Cocoa needs to eat a diet that includes grain (the larger, firmer stools help prevent anal gland problems). All of the natural pet food stores are showing me a food that is new- Party Animal kibble. It looks good to me, but I would appreciate it if some of DK's food experts would give me their opinion. The link is here: http://www.partyanimalpetfood.com/
The ingredients look fine to me. The only thing I would suggest is that you call or email the company (the contact info is on the website) and ask where hte food is made, and if any of the ingredients are imported, and from where.
There are a couple of things in the printed material on the website that's making me think this may not be made in the U.S., and/or uses imported ingredients.
I am finally getting back to my post about Party Animal Dog Food. I called the company, and every ingredient in their dry dog food is produced in the United States. In their canned food line, only one flavor contains an imported ingredient- the avocado oil is from New Zealand because it wasn't available in the U.S. I have been feeding this food to Cocoa and she loves it.
The avocado oil from New Zealand is fine; many good companies import their lamb & certain other meats from New Zealand. Thanks for doing the research & bringing this food to our attention!
Just wanted to add that of the information I have the following countries have foods that meet or exceed our standards generally and have very strict regulations: Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Thailand. The last has initially surprised me but check it out ~ if you have a kitty in your life, check out Tiki Cat.
I have met the owner of this company and talked at length with he and his wife at a food distributor show for local vendors. The ingredients look good to me, his ideas and thoughts admirable. The down side to this food is that it is canned at Evangers. Evangers had its temporary operating permit suspended earlier this year because one year later it had failed to comply and provide accurate 'paper work' to the FDA which had previously leaned on them and then issued the temp. permit. Evangers continues to cry paperwork issue, personally it is my feeling that if you have ANY issue in which the governing agency empowered to either allow you to continue to be in business or not you FIX it, especially within a one year time frame. Paperwork? That would seem to be easy enough to resolve with over one year. Something does not sit well with this at all for me. There have been some canning issues I have knowledge of as well. Mind you this really irritates me to no end that they do not correct the issue because they do have a good product and in the past nothing beat the classic chicken for sensitive stomachs, of Evangers that is. I did ask the Party Animal folks if they had a plan b for a canning facility and was assured they did, let us hope though that Evangers will just fix their ahem *paperwork* issue so that we can shout from the roof praise to their foods and those that they can.
