Over the past few days we've noticed that our 4 1/2 month old goldendoodle, Ollie, has learned how to open doors in our house. Does anybody else have a doodle who does this and how have you dealt with this behavior?
Peri is too short to be able to do that. But she does jump as high as she can and brush her mouth of the doorknob (which is round). When she does that, we know it is time to go outside. It literally looks like she is saying 'open that door". They are too smart.
My Gwennie does this, but she and Logie will tag-team. Gwennie unlatches the doors with flipper handles, then Logie nudges the doors open. Any of my lower cabinets and drawers with pull handles are not safe either. I have baby locks on the cabinets, ran a bunge cord around a line of drawer knobs, and put a small decorative latch on the doors with flipper handles. I changed the handle on the exterior kitchen door to a knob and we only use that door for family "ins and outs". The decorative latches make for interesting conversation when we have visitors that use the front door.
They are just tooooo smart arent' they.
