Hi my name is Kelli Floyd and I am the proud mother of Fenway Floyd. She is an cream/apricot doodle and she is almost 7 months old. We got her from Doo South Labradoodles in Inman, SC. We currently live in Columbia, SC where I am a speech langauge pathologist and my husband is an attorney. We love our little doodle and don't know what we would do without her!
Just a quick question to all of you other doodle owners...does your baby "wind up?" It seems like at least once or twice a day our girl gets a case of the crazies and runs around the house like a maniac. It's really funny and not destructive at all, but just wondering if this was special to our doodle or a common characteristic of most puppy doodles?
Hi Kelli!!! Thanks for joining the group........with my experience which is not much with the Labradoodle.......Bear is my first, but I have had several Poodles throughout my life and the trait you are describing is something a Poodle has. My hubby and I called it the "butt tuck". The butt seemed to tuck under and my past poodles would just take off running non stop for a few minutes. We would CRACK up everytime they would do this. Bear does do this, but he is TOO big to do this in the house..........he does it when he goes outside in the backyard. So I can COMPLETELY relate to what you are saying......it is hysterical though....isn't it?
It is the funniest thing. When she's really wired and feeling her oats she even runs up the couch, hits the wall and catapults herself off of there. We laugh so hard at her when she does this. I think it's great!
Our girl does the same crazy thing too. We call it the zooms. She does it a lot when she gets cold from being outside and after her bath. It makes us laugh.
We call that the "Puppy Zoom"... all of ours do that too. It seems to mostly be a "puppy" behavior, but the mini who is almost 2 still does it all the time. Maybe it's something they do when they're small because they can.
Hi Kelli, I think the "wind up" that you mention is what many other doodle owners refer to as the Doodle 500. Our doodle has been doing this since we got him at 12 weeks. He mostly does his little run after he poops. He'll poop and when he is done, he'll run around and around our yard a few laps. It's real funny to watch him go one way really fast, turn around and go the opposite direction. He usually does around 3 laps really fast.
Yes, mine does that too. We call it the zoomies.
Kelli, my doodle Bella does this too, she kind of tucks her tale and hind quarters down and runs around really fast, it's so funny. Bella is 5 month old cream/apricot F1B doodle. They are the best!
Yeap; Heppu does that too : ).
Nice to be here didn't know there was a F1B group. We're from Jersey and Cassie is black with some brown around muzzle, 9 1/2 months old and has been going through the matting period yuck! : ^ ( As far as the crazies she has that when she comes in from going out. She winds up and runs crazy if she POOPED which is perfect because we know to look and pick it up.
I am Chuck Holliman, father to Rusty who is 5 1/2 months old and 22.4 lbs.today, as we took him to our vet for his pre-neutering exam. He is supposed to be a small medium size but the breeder says that he could reach 40 lbs. He was very red as a puppy, hence the name Rusty, but is becoming more apricot as he matures. This is our first dog in 35 years and the first couple of months we were wondering "what did we do?" We survived the house-breaking, sleepless nights and he is the love of our life. We have several dog parks (Sun City Palm Desert, CA) and he loves the socialization, both with the owners and their dogs. He also has the "crazies" usually when he is very tired and then immediately goes to sleep after several mad dashes through the house. We have polished tile floors throughout the house so it is a riot watching him trying to turn corners and make quick stops. However we are concerned what effect the smooth floors may have on his hips later in life. We have a pool which we took him in a few times before it got too cold for the solar heating to keep it warm; we are hoping that he will be able to get back into it by the end of January. It will be a lifesaver for him during the torrid summer months.
Hello! My name is Kyoko, and I am picking up my puppy in 4 weeks!
