I absolutely love holding Noah like a baby. He's 24lbs and I really have no reason to carry him around, but I can't resist it. He just melts into my arms and goes completely limp. Any excuse I get, I pick him up lol. We've been visiting the nursing home for the past 2 months as a therapy team and at the end of each visit, as we ride the elevator down to the lobby, as long as no one else is in the elevator with us, I pick up Noah and cuddle him and tell him what a wonderful boy he is. I was thinking the other day how sad it must be for parents when their kids start becoming very independent and no longer want them around... I can't imagine how sad I would be if one day my dogs were embarrassed to have me with them!!!
of course! Just this morning Peri was sitting next to me while I was eating breakfast. She jumped in my lap and put her head on my shoulder and sighed. I put my arms around her and she melted into me :)
Ned has finally become snuggly - mostly in his time frame, like in the morning and at night - rather than when the "action" is going on. However my son and my daughter are always scooping him up and carrying him around on their hip with his paws on their shoulders, or sitting on the couch cradling him, and he seems to like it very much. Sometimes when we pick him up he just melts, rolls on his back and becomes dead weight.
Halas melts like this, too. I usually refer to it as floppy puppy. When he knows I'm leaving, he lays down and goes floppy like that. He likes me to pick him up and carry him like a baby to the couch and lay him down before I leave the house. It's so sweet. In Halas' video, "Guilt", there are several videos of him going floppy when I tell him I have to leave.
Achilles is now way to big for me to pick up, but my son still does it and every time he does Achilles relaxes and kisses my son. It's the cutest thing. It melts my heart every time.
Yes, Molly LOVES to be held! She always wants to climb up in my lap--even now that she weighs 60 lbs. Our 20-year-old son will pick her up and hold her and she will just lay there in whatever position he wants to hold her. Sometimes he holds her across her rump at his waist and she will very calmly sit there with her hands on his shoulder and look around. He holds her in his arms, even with her laying on her back and she will just lay there with her ears flopped back and dangling! It's adorable!!
I had an obedience instructor tell our class that hugging is a human thing and that dogs don't really like it. Well I strongly disagree! Zeke is a big cuddle bug and just loves to hug. He nuzzles us often to initiate a hug and makes sweet contented noises when hugging. He will let you wrap your arms around him and cuddle for the longest time. Lily is a little less huggable but when she needs one she will lower her head and press into you. She wil let you cuddle her up for just a little while but is very free with kisses. Jasper is not much for hugging because he is always on the move with his puppy energy but he is also a very generous kisser. Sort of a kissing bandit, kiss and run! Hopefully as he gorws older he will be more of a hugger as well.
