Tucker's coat seems to be very dry this winter. Any supplement recommendations? He is currently on Canidae. Fish oil, veg. oil supplements. Not sure what would be best.
Wonderful! I haven't noticed magical differences in Simon or Ned like Gordie. But Ned is not matting asmuch (could be that his coat is finally done with the change) or it could be the EPO. Simon has a very flat coat that we keep shaved. It looks like it has more life than it did but Gordie - wow! I think Gordie must have had a major deficiency in Omegas. We were using a different suppliment that was supposed to work on coat, joints etc. but it didn't do anything like this.
Whew. Just came from the store and did not remember what Evening Primrose to buy. Decided to purchase the 500mg instead of the 13,000 mg. Looks like I made the right choice. Says here, 500 mg.
Thanks for the posting. Hopefully, Spud's hair and my mom's hair will not look so similar :)
Peri's coat has improved greatly with salmon oil. I will try the EPO maybe sometime soon.
Love the salmon oil because you pump a few drops on their food and they go crazy for it (but it is unscented).
The salmon oil is just as good for dry coats, especially if there are no allergy issues or itchiness.
Some of our dogs get very loose poop from fish oils, and that doesn't happen with the EPO as much. But if the salmon oil is working for you, there's no reason to switch. If Peri can tolerate both, that might be another way to go.
I went to CVC Pharm. for EPO and they didn't have it. One isle long and 3 shelves high and no EPO. I did end up buying Fish oil, a bottle for me ( Omg 3) and one for Tucker ( Omg 3,6)- buy one get one free. We'll see how we look in a few weeks. Tucker doesn't have dry skin so maybe this will do it and I'll be healthier and shimmer too.
Well, Pick ME. I should have bought the 1,300 mg. bottle or maybe two. Maybe that would prevent me from driving around the block with garbage bags yelling at the neighbors to pick up their poop. !
Just a question. From what I understand, in humans we tend to eat too many omega 6's and not enough omega 3's. This throws off the ratio that is needed in our bodies. How does this relate to dogs? Salmon oil is very high in omega 3's and a previous post said that EPO was very high in omega 6's.
