We are 3 weeks away from finally picking up our puppy from Almond Blossom Doodles, and I was just wondering if people found that the traits found during the puppy temperment testing were consistant with the personalities of their adult dogs? I don't know how we will possibly choose from all those cute pups!

Toby's evaluation was very accurate - he's very friendly, calm (compared to most young dogs) and adores children. :)

I have found something very interesting about picking a pup out of a group... if you sit quietly and allow the pups to approach you, they can sense whether you will be a good match for each other. The perfect pup will pick YOU. :)
Yes, Kachi's assessment is consistent with his personality. We had the first pick out of a litter of 10, and Kachi was really one of the only puppies that morning, not scampering for our attention. But we fell in love with him as soon as we saw him, and his personality seemed to be the best fit for us. He was very mellow, but not at all interested in what we were doing there. His assessment was that he would be best suited for a quiet household, with NOT a lot of activity going on (which is what we have since we are empty-nesters). He's almost 2 years old, and such a sweet, sweet dog, but he still has kind of an aloof personality. He's just not the dog who is going to lavish us with kisses. He's stoic, and we love him to pieces!
nope.
We wanted a playful boy, at the time we went there, Mochi was the only boy left.
Shelly suggested us to choose one of the very energetic girl because she thought Mochi would be a better fit for an older people family without children since he was too calm.
But it turns out Mochi is a little devil and a little trouble maker, I have no idea how an older people family would take care of Mochi if they've got him.

We picked Mochi, he didn't pick us, he was hiding under shade the whole time and didn't want to play.
Interesting. I guess this just reinforces taking home the puppy that "feels right"! I'm sure we'll know when we get there :)
Winston was quiet and a watcher. He still is, but he can be just as over the top as the next young dog. But he is by far the calmest dog I have ever had. When out and about in stores and other public places during training he has always been as good as gold even when he was very small.
I was actually looking at another litter and not quite bonding with any of the males in that litter. Julie then brought out Winston, who was not yet ready to go home. It was magic, I took him in my arms and the connection was instant. So good luck and have fun with your new puppy.

Alma's temperment test said she was sweet, friendly and would be good with small children. She licked us when we picked her up. The other puppies were more mouthy. My son gravited towards her because of this. He has had some encounters with dogs and biting. We were only interested in the females so we didn't read any of the male tests. Shelly also seemed to know the personalities and pointed out which one's would be good with older families or children.

My suggestion would be to go and take each dog aside and play with it individually. Look at it's coat, personality and size. When you are all done with each puppy, watch them as they play together. Also, ask about the tests. We noticed that after playing with the puppies for an hour they would fall asleep on top of each other. Hopefully you will get to pick when they are playful and not asleep. If that's not the case, ask Shelly. She seemed to know the puppies really well.

Good luck and keep us posted!
Cathy--We got a male puppy from the Tula and Micah litter almost 2 years ago. A friend of mine also got a puupy from the same litter. We love them to death! T

he temperment testing held true! Ours was "mouthy" and did not like being put on his back. He still does not like that, and he is definitely mouthy! Great dog, happy, fun, active, very intelligient! Good luck! Rona
Your pup is beautifull! What is his name? Have you gotten a chance to look at Azures family photo album? You can see what his littermates look like! It's been great to see all the others growing up. I woud love to see more of your pictures! Has your friend heard of doodlekisses? We would love them to share pictures too. Only 6 more days and we will be able to share puppy pictures!
Rona, I just left you a comment on your page. Sorry, I should have read this one first! I'm excited because I do think our boys are brothers!!!! He's so adorable! Kachi was really mouthy at first, not as much now, even though he will still backtalk' (grumble under his breath, or bark -its actually kind of funny, but we try not to laugh)) when he doesn't like something!!
You'll have to tell your friend about this site as well!!
Yes, I guess they are brothers! March 4, 2008! And I did tell my friend about the site, hopefully she will send pictures as well. It's been interesting to see the differences between the two. Mine is definitely more of a trouble maker, and mouthier for sure. He was quite a biter (play biting) for a long time, he still plays quite rough with my other dog (and others he meets) who I just adopted (he picked her out!). But he has personality plus, is soooo adorable. Very strong! He needs a lot of exercise and mental stimulation. So very smart--he learned sit, down, leave it, etc in one sitting! But I still can't get him to drop something that he has that he shouldn't have. I'll have to send more pics. Is Kachi anything like this?
Rona, is it alright if I use this photo in the family album until you get more pictures of Barley up?
Hi: NO problem using any of the pictures! Thanks for asking.
