I just had a phone call from our local animal shelter asking me if I was interested in a goldendoodle. A friend who works there knows I have 2 doodles already. It is not possible for me to take on another dog.
Here is the info:
It is a female puppy 3 months old. The fee to adopt is $80 which includes worming, spaying, and all vaccinations along with microchipping. My friend says she is a wonderful, happy puppy, and is going to make a great family pet.
This pup's photo has not been posted on PetFinder yet, but it will be soon.
The animal shelter is located near Myrtle Beach, SC and information can be found on this web site:
I forgot to mention above that she is crate trained. I am sorry that the URL above is not working. If you copy it and paste it in your browser window it should work, and/or Karen and Jack posted a link below that will work.
Try Googling "Horry County Animal Care Center." I don't know why the link did not work. The pup's photo is not posted. The friend told me it would be in about 3 days. He did tell me she is a beauty.
The pup isn't listed on their website at all. If they're waiting a few days to post her, it may because they think an owner might still reclaim her.
Your friend might also try contacting Carolina Poodle Rescue based in Spartanburg if the pup becomes urgent; they pull doodles from kill shelters, too.
Do you have any more contact information, Im looking for a second doodle and the link is not taking me to the listing on Petfinder. Do you have the phone number ? Thanks Kate and Doodles
If anyone is interested in rescuing a doodle, join us at the DRC - doodlerescuecollective.com
We cross post the links of doodles needing homes across the county and Canada. We have them in different discussions according to the area - NE, SE, etc... You wouldn't believe just how many are listed. From puppies, to young and adults.
If they are not a doodle in the DRC program, you would have to contact that rescue/shelter and fill out their application. We just make the looking a whole lot easier for our members.
Just remember - a rescue doodle needs time to adjust to your home and your lifestyle. Lots of love and boundaries and obedienceare a must! You cannot 'feel bad' for them. I am told by a very good friend and trainer that she will not temperment test a dog in a shelter for 10 days. It takes them that long to adjust to new surroundings.
You will never have a more wonderful moment with a dog then when a rescue gives you a kiss just because! You know you have saved a life and added to yours!
Have a safe and fantastic weekend,
Adrianne
