Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Someone posted info on this breed on another doodle forum and I thought it was pretty interesting...so I'm passing it on!

Anyone heard of the Barbet?  Very multigen doodle looking!

http://www.americanbarbet.com/ -- notice how they direct folks to poomixrescue.com for look-alike rescues as there really aren't any barbets in rescue since there are so few total.

Whaddya think?

I think it's adorable, but they're rarer than hen's teeth. In 2009, there was one litter of 6 Barbet puppies born in the U.S. This year, there may be two.
They do look a lot like Multigens; very cute!
Must be very expensive.
I have never heard of one..it would be hard to tell that their not a Doodle..Their temperament sounds like a doodles too, I like when they say "joyful" but I don't think lilly will retrive any birds for me except if their stuffed. Thanks for sharing!!
I have met the one living in Indiana, it came as a rescue pup. It is very pretty!
Wow! Never heard of this... but they sure are cute! I would think they were doodles?
They are very cute!! Are you thinking of getting one Adina?
Wow doesn't look like there are many around. That website lists actual owners in the USA!
They are gorgeous dogs.
They look like multigens to me. May we should use the term Australian Water Retriever rather than LD.

By the numbers they are practically extinct.
They are French, and there are more in Europe; they are being bred in several European countries, including Poland, but the numbers are still very low compared to other breeds. There are also several breeders in Canada, but I was not able to find anyone with a current litter.
I saw some Spinone Italiano in a dog gear catalog today. They look doodly too, maybe not multigen looking, though.

Someone once asked me if Jack was a Spinone.
