Hey everyone, It's been a while since I visited DK, but I need some of your collective experience here....

So I noticed about a week or two ago that Brody had a little fleshy colored bump on his lip. His lip is black, so a pinkish fleshy color kinda gets easily noticed. I have watched it grow for the last two weeks at an alarming pace. It looks like a wart, only it's gotten huge... maybe the size of a red Goya bean.

It doesnt seem to bother him, but he also wont let me mess with it too much. We were playing ball today (in the house, much to my wife's dissmay... ;0) ) and I noticed my hand was all bloody.

I quickly realized that it wasn't my blood. It was all down his white, shaggy chin. I called the vet and took him in. My Brody-Bones just turned one year old at the end of January, and the they weighed him at a whopping 87.6 lbs! My daughter blurted out that he outweighs her!  LOL!  So, the vet said it was probably a papilloma wart which is supposedly common in young dogs and he said they sometimes come off on their own, but I could have it removed via laser surgery.

I know it's tough to call sight-unseen, but have any of you come across this with your doods? It's a new vet that came highly recommended from a friend. I love Brody so much, he's like one of my kids and I'm kinda worried about the big dummy.

Brody will most likely be fine. Here is the most recent discussion on this and there are others.

What vet are you using?
Thank you SOOOO much. It's a relief to hear that other doods have been there and done that so to speak.

I was using Ramsey Veterinary hospital and have always been happy with them, but they're pricey and times are tough for us. My old classmate recommended Dr. Frank Kavanagh who is also in Ramsey.
Gracie had hers burned off like a wart. That was the end of her story. I think that cauterization or freezing is probably a heck of alot cheaper than surgery. Also, I used L-lysine suppplements to help boost her immune system to get rid of it. If it doesn't bother him, eventually it will go away on its own. Gracie's was on a part of her lip that made me afraid of bleeding causing us to get hers removed....
Here's another recent discussion about papillomas on the lips & mouth:
