As much as I love Callie, I do have a few hobbies she can't actively participate in. There seem to be 4 main culprits in Callie's eyes...tennis, reading, crocheting, and watching TV. I can get why she doesn't like tennis...she doesn't get to play (no thumbs), and she is either left at home or taken to the matches but not allowed to chase all those wonderful tennis balls. Reading, television watching, and crocheting are all done at home though, and usually with Callie in my lap. Why oh why then does she feel compelled to attack and destroy innocent remote controls, stationary books, and cozily piled skeins of yarn?

I KNOW I attribute too much human motivation to Callie's action, but the dog has removed a book from my hands before...that just can't be happenstance!

Has anyone else experienced their doodle targeting hobbies, and has anyone discovered a cure/balance?

Wow--that last sentence, to me, reads like you're saying other doodles don't get lots of attention! Is that what you meant?
I just HAVE to think that's not how Julie meant that to come out! A DK doodle not getting lots and lots of attention? Perish the thought!
Peri is 10 1/2 months old right now and is at that peak stage in teenage years...there is no such THING as tons of attention in her mind....hehe!
We all probably give our dogs way more attention than others anyway. We are DK obsessed.
I think the problem with most of our doodles is that they get too much attention and then don't know how to amuse themselves or just have down time. When I'm not at work my doodle is with me all the time. He doen't even stay in a different room, if I move he moves.
Timbow is normally pretty good about relaxing with me while I'm reading or on the computer. If he really wants attention then he will sit on me, or as close as possible, and throw his paw on top of whatever it is I'm reading! Silly boy.
Quincy is great when I am working around the house but as soon as I sit, he is wanting to play. If I try to ignore him he just barks at me. Exercise is not the issue as we just came in from 90 minutes of cross country skiing. He was actually dragging a little bit behind at the end and he is still trying to get me to play ball. If he keeps it up I just pop his leash on and it's like magic down he goes and out for the count. Another thing I do is to put the toys away. Worked this time he's asleep at my feet. Maybe he knows I'm talking about him.Gotta love him.
