This morning I was looking at PetFinder and I saw this "Poodle Mix" just rescued from a high kill shelter. She is two years old and sounds wonderful. She's 15 pounds, so just Guinness's size. She was badly neglected and had to be totally shaved. I fell in love with her already. So, I'm thinking Guinness might want a "big sister". He loves other dogs, so I don't think it would be a big transition for him. Before I go any further with this what are the objective things I should be considering? Right now I know I'm thinking with my heart...not my head. Please DK friends, help me to think this through objectively. Here's her picture....is she a doodle? Her name is Isabelle, but I'd call her Izzy.
I know, it is exciting...I have her new bed ready. It's in our bedroom right next to Guinness's. My daughter just called to say she found a pink and white polka dot bed at Home Goods that she bought for Izzy. I keep beds all through the house so Guinness can sleep wherever I happen to be, so another "girl bed" will certainly be used. Wouldn't it be funny if Guinness decides he likes the pink polka dot one the best? I was telling my groomer the story today, and she made me feel even worse about what Izzy had to go through. She was saying that for her to have to be shaved down to skin level the mats must have been awful. She also told me it is painful for the dog when they are that bad, and that they feel like their hair is being pulled all the time. Broke my heart, and made me want her even more. Soon...I can wait for her. She will never go through anything like this again.
Izzy is s lucky t have you! That's so great that Guinness sleeps in his beds... We tried with Tori, but she still digs at them and tries to tear them. I have to go back to work Monday, so I'll be anxiously waiting so hear.... Good thoughts are coming your way!
I hope on your application you listed www.doodlekisses.com and showed them how to search for this thread! Little Izzy will be much loved by many! I'm sure if you're able to adopt her that her foster family would enjoy following up with her and seeing how wonderful she is in her new home!
Our Bindi came to us via a puppy mill raid in SC. She too needed to be shaved down to the pink and honestly looked very much like sweet Izzy only tinier. Bindi wasn't matted but was covered in fleas and it was easier for her rescue to diagnosis and treat her shaved down. It just gave us an excuse to get her darling little coats and she enjoys them to this day! (there are some of her on my page with her new coat on as a matter of fact! )
I think you'll do just fine Jane with two dogs...your heart is obviously big enough! We are about to become a 4 fur ball member family again and we can't wait! We're buying pink too! LOL As a matter of fact I think Rose and Izzy will have matching collars if you're ordering that darling flower one that was posted the other day! LOL
I sure hope it all works out for you......what a wonderful home you'll be able to give her. Can't wait for updates!
So you know exactly how I feel. 4 fur balls....wow. Now that must be a fun home! When will you get your Rose? Yes, it was the cute flower collar that was posted here. I loved it! Keep us posted on Rose. I'm going to your page now to see your pictures of Bindi.
Jane, I don't even know you and I got on this website to check in on you and Izzy! I am sending positive thoughts your way and hoping it all works out. It sounds like Izzy will be much loved.
I know! Isn't this site just so GREAT!!!! Never thought having a dog (a "doodle" no less) would bring me in contact with so many wonderful people from all over the world who all have the same love for their dog, compassion for others and a great support system whenever needed!
Yes, it certainly is a big doodle family! I feel like I really know so many of you even though we've never met. This community provides an amazing support system and a great place for Doodle fun. I so much appreciate everyone sharing in this great "adventure".
