Poor poor poor Thule monster.

Yesterday Thule rang the bell to go out way more than usual so at one point I peeked out the blinds to see what she could possibly be doing. Right away she puked. She had puked a tiny bit of kibble IN the kitchen earlier in the day. But I wasn't too worried as we often refer to her as our little bulimic girl (no offense intended, I realize that eating disorders are very serious).

Later I noticed a couple other barf spots outside..hmmm.

Later that evening I hopped in the shower and couldn't find my soap. So I peeked over to the sink and it wasn't there either. Strange...it's usually in one spot or the other and it was a fairly new bar of Dove--couldn't have been used up...

Uh oh!

There WAS a little bit of whitish foamy stuff in the what came out of Thule. Could it be?

My hubby and I went out for ice cream last night and when we got back we found a huge splatter of throw up at the kitchen-living room threshold. AND on the carpet in the dining room. And sure enough...two little chunks of white soap.

She seems to be all better today with no incidents, but I felt so bad for her. Hopefully she's developed a bad association between the two but ya never know.... This is the first time either dog has eaten a whole bar. I've seen tooth marks on one before and Rosco has licked a bar of soap. I can't imagine WHAT about it would taste good.

Here's the spokesmodel herself modeling her guilty pleasure:

Does your doodle have a naughty eating habit?

Yeh..Chance eats Kleenex that he sneaks from the trash can. He also loves the cups yogurt comes in and will walk nonchalantly through the living room to his kennel with one of those little plastic cups in his mouth, like we can't see him. I say "leave it" and he drops it immediately and leaves the room. What a goofball. Bear countersurfs and licks the butter if we forget to put the butter dish in the frig.
The scariest thing Sam ever ate was when we had only had him a few weeks and he was in the yard. I walked over to see what he was chomping on and it was a mushroom. Called the vet and they said to bring him in because some mushrooms are very toxic to animals.

They induced vomiting and the poor thing must have thrown up 6 or 7 times. There was no sign of the mushroom but lots and lots of dirt.

Of course, being a puppy, he will eat anything he finds - he has a great passion for my computer's mouse which I have been lucky to retrieve from him on several occassions, lol!
Adina, our last dog was a yellow lab and we could keep NO SOAP in an open dish anywhere in the house, she would eat it with one gulp, just loved it. But then let me tell you she was a little devil for the eating habits. We had heard that labs were food mongers, but never knew to what extent she was capable of stealing.
Our doodle Dallas is not given any human food except vegetables and it works very well....
Hi Adina! I am so glad to hear she is doing better. I've not had the same experience but if she thew up and her appetite and energy level are good, then that's great news! ;)
I love the picture.

Knock on wood so far none of my three dogs have been interested in socks or underwear or such things--which is great because I have piles of laundry hanging around as I sort them for wash. If one finds a napkin she will shred it but doesn't seem to swallow those things...including my gum. Thule found a package of gum and shredded it up a bit but all the gum was left uneaten.
Bentley once swallowed a whole avocado pit he stole out of the trash. (note-avocado's are toxic for dogs). The vet told us he would either pass it in his stool or he would become obstructed and require surgery. After 4-5 days I assumed he passed it and I missed it. He was eating fine and was not sick. Then one morning, about two weeks later, I found it in his crate. He had vomited it -whole !! We are now more careful about keeping the cover on the trash.
Yes, they love to take anything they can steal off the coffee table. Now you would think after having doodles in the house, DH would not leave important things on the coffee table like a check!!! Yep that was a afternoon snack. Maybe one of these day DH will learn.

As well as all these comments, ours too love to "Find" things. Soap, tooth paste, and yes Kleenex or even a roll of toilet paper. It doesn't appear they eat these things but just chew them to shreds. I know our daughter returned a library book, only for us to recieve a bill in the mail to purchase a new one. it seems our doodles tore out the middle 2 chapters. And on another occasion. Yes it is true, the dog ate my home work.... I had to explain this one to the teacher for our other daughter, she was affraid to use it as an excuse....
Adina...happy to hear Thule is feel better and I did get a giggle from that picture of "evidence".

A WHOLE Kitchen Dish Towel!! hahhaaaaaa I can laugh now because i realized later he got it out of the clean laudry basket thus no bateria. Next Max laid still not moving for about 3 hours and afterwords I made sure all kitchen towels are hidden.
At first I thought you meant a real dove, and I almost didn't want to read--LOL hope she's feeling better!
Miko has never eaten soap, but she does enjoy a quick lick or two of the spout to the laundry detergent. About once a week she licks it, maybe to find out if she really likes it, or not.......

Our previous dog ate chicken bones from the wings my fiance put in the dumpster. It was a top that can flip. It was a midnight trip to the ER and they xrayed and induced vomiting. Then we got the simple human one with a lid.
