It's basically a duvet cover that you stuff with extra blankets, towels, pillows, or whatever to make a dog bed. I'd love to have one, because Jack's comforter/bed has to be washed quite often and it seems it would be a lot easier to throw a duvet in the wash than to wash & dry a whole comforter. For those who sew, what do you think about a project like this?
It would be very difficult for me.But I'm sure we have some good seamstresses and tailors out there. They might even be able to sell them but given the work that would go into them I'd think it would be hard to beat the Molly Mutt prices. Maybe the purchaser could probably use his/her own fabric and specify size, though.
I agree - the prices aren't that bad. My daughter had sewing in school last year and I was amazed at how much it cost to buy a pattern, fabric, and other things you need to finish a project. (and hers was just a lined shoulder bag) It is really expensive to sew anymore, and you can buy these things much cheaper at the store already made without having to make them yourself. Abby has a duvet style bed right now, and I never thot to pull the stuffing out and put more washable things in the liner bag.
It all depends on how large your pup is but you can easily take a pillow sham....we use a KING sized sham for our Maltese and achieve the same effect. Stuff it with a pillow and you're all set. If you prefer a more squared shape you can use a EUROPEAN sham too.
I have one!! I don't sew, so I bought the fabric and talked my mom into making it for her 'granddog' lol. I love it. I'll post a picture when I get home
I sounds great, if it was waterproof. I'm looking for something just like that, but I want to be able wipe it clean. It seems whenever Cody gets sick, it's in his cage and I have to throw the whole bed out because it gets into the stuffing. I've been through so many, now he gets an old sleeping bag, and whatever else that's meant for good will. :)
Get outdoor fabric that's used for outdoor furniture it has a water resistant coating on one
side. If it's water resistant it should be barf resistant as well.
