I just wandered how much the average mini doodle costs?  I think we paid an extremely low price for Cody considered what I've seen on the internet,   I wander if we didn't get a puppy mill puppy.  I don't know how else you would find a puppy if it wasn't for the internet.  Can you share your story of how you searched, and found your dood and how much?
Thanks!

And rightly so. He's adorable. I have considered it if I didn't have Ben.
I have two med doodles. One cost $2200.00 and the other $1200.00! The latter ($2200,00) I found by doing internet research, and the 2nd was by referral from our vet (from a breeder right here in my town!). And they are both equally fabulous dogs, as were their breeders. There were things I liked about the top priced puppy's breeder, and then there were things that I thought were far superior in the $1200.00 breeder. The main difference in price was because our $2200 puppy is an English Creme golden doodle, and the $1200 puppy is a black goldendoodle, which is not as popular as an English creme goldendoodle. But truth be told, we love them both so much, (its quite ridiculous, really) and how much they cost simply doesn't matter! They're both funny, loving, sweet, loyal companions who enjoy each other, and give us so much joy!! It doesn't matter what you paid, you'll love your puppy so much, you'll immediately forget how much you paid, no matter the amount!
HI Liza, Kachi, & Halle,
Our cost for Charlie, our Mini was $2200.00 (cash) and found the breeder on the internet who came highly recommended. We're thinking of getting another doodle and I'm wondering for you, are your two the same sex and how much difference in age are they? Charlie now is 2 and we were getting one last September, but moved out of Province and thought it was too much work with moving and a puppy but now we're settled. We did think also of an English goldendoodle (I haven't heard Creme in that name before) what's the difference.
Michele, I am wondering the same thing after I see these prices! I paid a lot less for Cooper! Since we are both from Ohio, did you happen to get your puppy from a Breeder in Portsmouth, Ohio? I love my Cooper to pieces, but have spent a fortune in Vet bills tracking down the source of his loose bowels that he has had since day one of picking him up and the Breeder says he didn't know anything about. He also told me Cooper was the last one in the litter and that was the reason he was letting him go so cheaply, to make room for his new litter due the following weekend. I paid a third of the prices listed here, but have several hundred dollars in Vet bills. Luckily, I have Pet Insurance and am waiting to see if they will pick up any of the expense. This Breeder has a website and rave reviews from past customers and seems to be very nice, always responds to my questions, even now. Something in the back of my mind just makes me wonder.
Did your breeder health test the parents and provide a guaranty with money back (without having to give your dog back)? It is expensive for breeders to test their breeding stock and provide these guarantees and the good ones feed high quality food and spend a lot of money on the pups. I think you can definitely find them for less money and cost varies around the country, but I would say $1200 is probably the minimum we have seen for mini pups....from breeders that health test.
I am sorry you have had these problems with Cooper and hope he gets better! But that might not mean your breeder is not a good one....
yes, he said is providing a one year guarranty with a Vet's notice, but you have to return the puppy for replacement or refund. The guarantee was based on us giving a nutritional supplement or it was null and void also. As far as health testing of the parents, I know he had scores for the Poodle listed, but don't remember any listed for the Golden Retriever and now she isn't listed on the site at all. In fact, when I bought my little guy, I had to ask to see a picture of her before I went to pick him up because she wasn't shown anywhere on his site. Anyway, I am not accusing him of anything, I am just saying there is a little nagging doubt in the back of my mind. My husband and I both wonder how it is possible for the puppy to not have had the bowel problem before he came to our home when we initially kept him on the same food, in fact the breeder gave us a packet of food and the first stool he had was diarrhea. I went by all the reviews people had written and checked for any complaints at the BBB, there were none. Bottomline, Cooper is doing much better and we are loving him and wouldn't give him back for any amount of money! I just saw this post and it triggered that doubt I have.
I am very glad Cooper is doing better =) He sure is cute.
Hey, I got the email so I logged onto DoodleKisses and if you haven't solved the problem, let me recommend 1 tablespoon of canned pumpkin with Cooper's meal. Doodles LOVE pumpkin (plain no spices) and it keeps them regular. My little Gracie had issues and I got her regulated with the pumpkin and whenever her gastro acts up I open a can and it fixes the problem in under a week. You could give Cooper pumpkin all year if it keeps the loose stoole under control. Sorry for reading this post so late.
Thanks Bev. I appreciate the info on the pumpkin. Someone else actually recommended this too. Cooper is doing much better since I switched him to "Life's Abundance" dog food. I found that recommendation on another site and it has worked wonders for him. It is shipped right to my door and I don't have to worry about running to the Vet to get his food. He wasn't doing well on the Low residue food anyway. I think he was having a problem with grains and this food doesn't have any corn or wheat. About day 3 on this food, he started having better stools.

I got my new pup from Portsmouth (just throwing that out there) We've had him just shy of three weeks and knock on wood, so far so good. We paid $1100 and he was second to last of the litter.

I got Jersey and Jasmine from the same breeder in western VA. Jersey is 2 1/2 and Jasmine just turned 1. I'd say at 9 mon they were pretty much full size. I paid $2,000 for Jersey and $1,800 for Jasmine. I think she just gave me a break on Jasmine, as I was a repeat customer. I would definitely get another doodle from her. Both dogs are sweet, intelligent and love people of all sizes, other dogs and cats.
Let hear it for those Jersey Girls......
