This lack of pigment on Haley's eye lid has just appeared. Does any one know what it might be?

Yep.
Spud also gets this. Our vet said these dogs get a lot of dried junk around that area and surface skin just gets peeled off. Normal Pigment in Spud returns in a few days.
Thanks. DH thought he might have scratched it on something but I did not think that was the case.
He may have scratched the eye on something or he and another dog were playing?

I notice it more now that Spud is older. I try to use a damp cloth to make those yucky eye buggers not so dry and mean before I remove them. I try I said--usually Spud just bites the cloth.
That's good to know. Fenway has also recently gotten a place like this on her eye. We happened to be at the vet for a seperate problem a couple days after it showed up and he wasn't worried about it at all, but he didn't tell me how it might have gotten there.
Try to remove the "gunk" at least daily or it can cause sores. This looks like an area that is healing from that.
You mean--try to remove the junk HOURLY.............. :)
That's a lot of gunk. But it's tasty, to the doods, that is.
Thanks for the input. I never saw evidence of a sore. I look at his eyes many times a day as they are so beautiful and expressive. He wipes his yucky stuff on my bedspread every morning when he gets up which moves it away from his eyes. I usually remove it during the almost daily combing (to remove tangles and the dreaded mats).
