As I"m preparing for my new puppy to come home, I have done lots of research and decided to use Fromm food to feed my doodle. I went to the store today and they said Fromm doesn't make a puppy brand, and that I could feed the Fromm anyway to a puppy. Is this correct? Should I start with a different brand that does have a puppy formula first and then switch to Fromm? I feel like I am on information overload!! Thanks so much for your help ;)
The store clerk is misinformed. Fromm does make two puppy formulas, in their "Gold" line. Your store may just not carry it; Fromm does not have very wide distribution, and the stores that do carry it sometimes only carry certain Fromm products.
However, the "Four Star" line is designed as an all-life stages food, and we have quite a few members feeding it to their doodle puppies.
From Fromm's website:
We have designed two formulas in our Gold Nutritionals® line especially for puppies: Puppy Gold and Large Breed Puppy Gold (designed for puppies of breeds with adult weights greater than 50 pounds.) We also recommend feeding any one of our Four-Star Nutritionals® recipes. Like our Gold Nutritionals® puppy recipes, all of our Four-Star Nutritionals® recipes are enriched with the fat soluble and water soluble vitamins, minerals, fats, and other essentials your growing puppy needs. Salmon À La Veg is especially popular among breeders due to its small kibble size (about the size of a pencil eraser.)
I feed Chewie Fromm's and although he is now 11 months, he has eaten it since he was 4 months or so. He eats the Four Star varieties and does very well with them. The salmon one is a very small size kibble and would probably be good for a small puppy, then you could switch between the other proteins as he gets a little older. Fromm's is a great product from an excellent company.
Peri has eaten Fromm since she came home with us - the 4-star line. Just as Laura says, we fed salmon because of the teeny bites. We now rotate between all the proteins.
We love Fromm here in the Food Group!!!!
Sonny eats Fromm, Four Star too. He just turned a year in March. I think I switched him too it when he was about 8 months. I wished I had found it sooner though! lol
I recently switched to Fromm' s Four Star Line for both my dogs. Fudge is 16 months old and Vern is 13 weeks. I switch flavors periodically and have had very good luck with this food.
