Hi, I'm Sheri and we have one of each. Sophie sheds some .... it isn't unbearable. Lucy doesn't shed, but you do get a brushful when you brush her. The hair is easy to get off of things though. I just keep lint brushes all over the house and in the car. I used to wear a lot of black, but find that now when shopping I'm usually avoiding black. After having our little foster Topper for 3 weeks who was a king size shedder, it almost seems as if ours don't shed now, but let the afternoon sunlight come in the LR window and look at the wood floors and you will see Miss Sophie sheds. I'm so thankful everyday that my house isn't any larger because I do have to do the floors every day. When Topper was here, I did them twice a day.
Yes!!!! Definitely!!!! and DH's - they not only leave those little hairs all over the bathroom counters, they leave toothpaste in the sink. Doodles never do that!!!
Hunter, my darling F1 Goldendoodle, sheds like a you know what! Whenever I brush her (which is about 3 to 4 times a week) I could make a fur coat. I truly didn't expect her to be non-shedding BUT a little less shedding than my friends golden retreiver would have been nice. Now, I do have to say that she never gets matted and other than the shedding her coat is super easy to care for. If I had to take one or the other I would rather deal with the shedding.
I have two black doodles, Sully who is 85lbs of pure buttercream icing and Daisy is 45lbs of pure vinegar! :) They are both shedders, Sully has a much fuller fleecy coat that sheds a lot and Daisy does shed but not as much. Daisy's hair doesn't grow...it's like it's reached it's full potential! :) But Sully's grows alot, he always needs his beard and eyebrows trimmed. In the summer, I get him a summer cut which is adorable but then he doesn't really look much like a doodle! I love these guys so much, I really don't care how much they shed...I've just added it to the chore list. They bring me so much joy that it is worth all the hair!
I have two F1b doodles. One does not shed and has a silky coat. The other has a sort of "wire-y" coat and sheds LIKE CRAZY! - and we have to pay to have her groomed. Now that's just not fair.
I'm glad you responded, because we hear a lot about the fact that F1Bs are the least likely to shed, and that does seem to be true. Yet there are no guarantees, as you've learned.
We have also had a fair amount of ALDs relinquished who shed.
This shedding business makes me chuckle. My two don't shed but this time of year we have catkins, twigs, leaves, etc. all dragged in or carried in clinging to doodle fur. There is also a chewed up twig on the rug and I could go on.Some hair, except for the fact that it gets on clothing doesn't seem like it would make much difference. It's either vacuum up stuff constantly or make excuses when someone drops in.
Hi I am Nancy and while Ned doesn't shed, he does sometimes leave tiny knots of fur on something.
When we got Clancy and had him groomed the next day, the groomer said he didn't shed. She lied! LOL He does shed. We haven't figured out quite how much but parts of him seem to shed and parts of him seem not to. He may or may not be a first generation dood. but I do get to join the ranks of shedding doodle owners who hoped their doodles wouldn't shed.
