OK..this is the problem., my daughter is here staying for a few days while in the middle of a move to another city.  Her corgi Charlie is here also.  Charlie had a bad experience in puppy training class, when a big black dog attacked him briefly.  Now he is scared of Wilson the "big black dog"!!  So then it triggers Wilson to get all excited cuz he has "company" and jump all around and Charlie bark and snap at Wilson.  HELP!!  Any advise is sooo welcomed!  This could be a looonnng week  :- l  TY

Thanks Jane,,,I"m holed up in my bedroom with Wilson..so Jocelyn and Charlie can have the run of the house for an hour. But am going to put on my running shoes and we'll gear up and go on a long walk together : ) TY for your prompt reply!!! They've been sniffing at each other under the doors. Baby gates are nothing for 75 lb. Wilson to clear LOL
If Wilson has some training under his belt...use what he knows to tell him what to do:  Down, Sit, Stay are great tools.
If he is not very well trained then contain him in his crate a bit more or like Jane said use baby gates to separate.  The walk together is a good idea too!

But it is OK if Charlie snaps at Wilson for being obnoxious and invading his space too much.  Wilson might learn that Charlie doesn't appreciate it and start to give him space.  As long as he isn't injuring Wilson a bit of a reprimand is fine.
Even Guinness and Murphy who are "joined at the hip" will occasionally growl and even snap if one of them is being obnoxious. They seem to know how to play "rough" but still be respectful most of the time, but every once in a while one of them will "forget" and the other lets him know clearly that the behavior won't be tolerated. For the most part I don't get involved, unless I think the reaction is "over the top". Then the "offender" goes in the crate for a cool down. If they are both at fault they get separated for a "time out". I also agree with Jane on the walk. I think this absolutely gives them the idea that they are part of the same "pack". You'll just have to be careful that there's no "nonsense" between them during the walk, or that could defeat the purpose. I start out with a dog on either side of me until they "get in the zone". Then I let them walk together. Keep us posted.
OK...back from walk...everything went great!!! They were both focused on the walk and got along great. When we got back let them play and chase each other around the house. I think they've figured out their pack places after lots of nipping,,panting and jumping around! Thanks so much for all of your help and advice..again you DK's are great and soooo knowledgeable !! Thanks again ...oh... they are napping now, one at each end of the living room so they can keep keep an eye on each other...LOL
Perfect! I'm guessing they'll be mostly fine now, with a few "tests" every now and then. Those walks really help. Glad you're "out of the bedroom". Enjoy your week!
DK,,,you were right; all is well...I think looking back at the first aggressiveness is when they started snapping at each other and all the commotion..Jocelyn and I were yelling and excited tensions..which of course only ramped up everything!!! DUH!!!! Now using quiet reassuring voices..completely different dogs :) TY again!! Humans screw up again!! LOL
