ANYbody who could comment on this would be greatly appreciated....

I'm having behavior problems with my 7 month old Doodle.  I am SO good

to her that I don't understand it.  I've taken her to "Doggie Class", I take

her to Daycare once a week so she can play with other dogs....at home

she just thinks everything is "Hers" and runs away with it whether it

be kleenex, envelopes, toilet paper, cd's....YOU NAME IT!!!  The "leave

it" command HAS helped, when she decides "ok, I'd better fork it over",

but it's driving me nuts.  Plus she's "bitey" to my husband and I and we've

tried the big "Ouch"- no luck, we've tried holding her mouth shut and she

quits for a time...and then the mood passes.  It seems like she's hyper

to me!

Any suggestions out there???

Thanks

PS...she's a Mini Goldendoodle...and it seems worse since she
was spade on April 23rd. And NO, she's not in pain! She's
zooming around the house like a torpedo....
Try a little Bitter Apple for the bitey thing. Have DH spray some on where Cady likes to bite. When she mouths DH she will get a mouthful of nasty tasting Bitter Apple.
Sounds good but I would have to Bitter Apple the entire house! Probably not enough spray in the
world....
I kept little tupperwares of treats in drawers all over the house (and taught Eddie that the shake of a tupperware always meant a treat) so then when Eddie would grab something and run, I'd stay put and shake the nearest tupperware. He'd drop whatever he had, and coming running over to me, then I'd make him sit and give him a treat. He learned that 1. he never got chased so what's the fun in stealing stuff, 2. good things happen if he comes when called, and 3. he has to come to me, I don't chase him. It worked great! (I'd go retrieve the object while he was involved in something else.)
I love it! I'm going to try it! Ya, I think half the fun for her is the chase. She does know the difference
between right and wrong, however, so she gives it to me eventually but I'm getting wayyyy tired of
crawling under my bed and having us stare at each other as to who is going to win! LOL. Not funny
but I'm at work so I can laugh now....
One of mine is just the same, from the minute I put my feet on the floor till I go to bed, (but only when Im in the house) Dudes has to take something of mine, wanting me to chase and plea with him. Ive tried ignoring it so im not rewarding him for it, to no avail. now I just say thank you and he seems to give it up instantly to me, as he seems to want to please, but I havent overcome him taking things to start with. No clothes are left on hangers, kleenex boxes and literally dozens of pairs of reading glasses all gone. Bailey on the other hand is only interested in taking the item from Dudes.

Both of them are pretty well trained, but I cannot get them to come on demand. Every other command works a treat. Now that summer is almost here, I have passers by jogging, cycling and the dogs will not come, they just want to sit at the peramater of of the fence and show off for whoever is passing. We walk in the woods every day, which is great, they get to run and follow their noses ,but when its time to go, getting them to come is a long drawn out affair and puts a downer on what was a wonderful time together.
Any clues?
Hope someone else can answer this for you....I'm too much in "Puppy Land" and learning myself!
Kate - before our 2nd doodle joined the family, Maple would stubbornly stand in the yard, then lay down when I called her to come in. I can't tell you how many trains to work I missed! One day I took this obnoxious squeaky toy from the cupboard where my hubby often hides it (to maintain his sanity) and stood in the kitchen out of view with the door open and squeaked it like crazy. She came leaping in and I tossed it into the living room and closed the door! Ha! That was her "I'm 7 months old and I don't have to listen to you anymore phase". Glad that's over with :)
Boy those Doodles are reallllly something!! I didn't go through this stuff with my English Setter...
I have a similar story about not coming in when called.... Cady has a dog yard and she'd
come to the door to be let in (I could see cause it's glass) and when I'd open the door she'd
look at the sky and run away back into the yard. I was wondering if it was the sound of the
door freaking her out. So I stared to chain her out there with a very soft long leash so I could
"reel her in"... at this time it was winter and I couldn't go chasing her in the snow. Well, lo and
behold I now let her run free in the dog yard and I left the long leash tethered to the outside
light so I just shake that and she comes running cause she thinks she's still leashed!!!!!
You have to be one step ahead of these Doodles!!! They sure keep you on your toes.
The "bitey" thing sounds like she is trying to prove she is the Alpha dog to you and your hubby. Have you done the usual things, like making her wait to eat until you are done, making her wait to go in and out doors until you are through first, and not letting her sleep with you?
Oh I'm sure she's trying to prove she's Alpha dog. I'm a very kind person and so I don't doubt she knows this, lol.
She doesn't sleep with me and she's doing ok with food....I've gotten really good suggestions on here. Thank you All!!!!
Peri was horrible at that age - not all of the time, but a lot of it. We trained constantly - down-stays, sit-stays, leave it, drop it, you name it. Basically if she got crazy, we did training time. It wears their minds out. She respects and listens to us much more now (13 months old). She is a mini too by the way. Has your husband cried very loudly when she bites him? Like a huge "OWWWW That hurts" - get up and leave her. That worked for Peri.
7 months is a hard stage....work on training all of the time....
