I think occasionally it is a good idea to put some group sort of things on the main page for wider exposure. I went to Trader Joe's yesterday and bought their dried chicken breast pieces. The dooodles love them The ingredient is chicken breast and nothing else.Made in the USA! About 3 & 1/2 dollars for 4 ounces but no doubt the original breasts weighed a lot more. I hope we can support companies that produce healthful food and snacks. Do you have other finds?
We buy the dried chicken breast dog treats here in Canada under the name Pure Bites. However, they make her so thirsty! There's no added salt, but if she's had more than 5 pieces she gets pretty dehydrated after a nap.
That's strange but maybe she just needs the water because the chicken itself is so dry. She just may need the water to replace the fluids she needed to liquefy it in her GI tract. My dogs usually drink after eating their kibble.
It is very dry, it's kind of like chicken flavoured cardboard, but she loves it and that's what matters. We buy the cheese Pure Bites as well, but they aren't as dry as the chicken.
Since she's a pup I'll just lead her to the water bowl as I don't want to think she's thirsty while in her crate and I'm away from home.
Well, we don't give Daisy water because we aren't gone more than 6 hours during the day. Since she's only 5 months, I don't know that she'd be responsible enough to know not to drink a lot when she can't get out at any time. She's still having an accident here & there in the crate, so maybe once things are in order with her housetraining we can give her water in the crate. She does have a small tray which we could use, or I could look up the Lixit bottle like you use...thanks for the idea!
In the meantime, when I know she's going in her crate, I usually don't give more than one dried chicken treat, I'll give her kibble instead. I learned after that one day when she looked really thirsty. I don't want to see her look uncomfortable anymore :(
I like to cross the border to Washington and I've been to the Trader Joe's in Bellingham. Maybe I will look for the dried chix treats as they may be better tasting than the ones here in Canada.
