Summer yet?

Hello!

It's June!! Are you off for the summer yet?

Our students' last day is June 16th, and faculty's last day is June 23rd.

This delay is due to so many snow days and our strike days.... :-(

You had strike days??! We had over our allotted share of snow days too.... we didn't get an extra day of Memorial Day vacation, and lost Easter Monday. We usually don't have students on the last day, but due to Mother Nature... they will be there for a half day - but ALL work must be done before that anyway. NO! Not off yet... But... we go until June 25th - WITH students! So hot already here - and still have to tear my room apart - just to put everything back on the walls and b.boards in 2 quick months. It's not that they actually clean the walls or anything.. Wish we had no kids for our last week - that's nice! .This time is bittersweet - we're almost there, but have SOOOOOO much to do. Good luck with the close and soon - V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N!!!

Today was my last day with students. Tomorrow is a half-day work day! We didn't go over our limit on snow days - surprising here in Ohio!! I hope everyone enjoys their summer break!!

Maybe here in So. Cal. we should get earthquake days or definitely smog days....... And you must be dreaming to have days without the kids at the end of school. We come back to school 2 days before students but about 1 1/2 days is taken up by stupid meetings.

Hahaha that's funny. In Pa, because it was a state of emergency - Snow that is - the state gave each school district an options to determine snow make up days. We lost presidents' day, good friday, monday after Easter, local election day, and added 5 days.... :-(
Go figure, our district decided to make them all up.....

Probably better to make up the days than to have them deducted from your paycheck. I think it is coming to that.

Yup! At least I would rather work than get docked, but I am glad that I didn't have to worry about it.

Our high school district had five days furlough at the end of school. They did not have the option, and it particularly effects the teachers who are retiring this year because it brings down the annual salary for the last year. That is used to calculate your retirement amount for the rest of your life. No raises for our district this year or last, but at least no furlough days. It's getting tricky out there.
