I like Wally Lamb, but haven't read this book yet. I'll have to put it on my list.
I haven't seen the movies, but I will be on the lookout for them. Wally Lamb and Mitch Albom are both great authors. They are the type of movies that my show in Monterey, but not the kind that would be a hit in Salinas.
I read almost exclusively for entertainment with mysteries being my favorites. I read pretty quickly and rarely bother to remember titles. Embarrassingly I have been known to buy a book more than once! When buying from an author I regularly read, I buy by copyright date. If it is new, then I probably haven't read it, but if it has a 6 month old date, I probably have. The only genre I refuse to read is horror. These are what I have read in the last two weeks:
I just finished Fern Michaels newest book - one of a series she has about an Irish American family. One of the sisters takes her autistic toddler to Ireland to concentrate on helping him make as much progress as possible. What I really liked about it was that he was not cured (of course) but another possibility was suggested which is making me do some research about diet and autism.
I also just finished Cursed by Carol Higgins Clark which is a light mystery with another continuing character as the detective. It is quite entertaining with humor as well as a mystery to solve.
I am currently reading Jeffery Deaver's Roadside Crosses. It also is a mystery with a continuing main character who is an investigator/interviewer who reads body language. This one involves computers and I am learning some terms and processes I didn't know before.
I was, before DK, a big mystery reader, most often English mysteries but any kind would do. Juat finished a Reginald Hill.
Wow! Another Deaver fan! I have read almost all of them so far but I have yet to read Roadside Crosses. My friend back in CT recently sent me Eat, Pray, Love as she wants to me read something other than 'psycho Deaver" as she calls him. I just finished The Beach House but it was a little too mainstream for my liking. This a fabulous group!
I like Deaver too...I read a lot of different genres but also love mysteries and detective books about serial killers. John Sandford is a fave.
Those sound like my kinda books and authors Nancy! Is Carol Higgins Clark similar to Mary Higgins Clark or is it like Nora Roberts/JD Robb where it is the same person? I love Mary Higgins Clark.
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who doesn't bother to remember titles. I don't remember most authors either. I love to read and become totally engrossed in the book at hand....but ask me a week later...and I'm hard pressed to tell you what it was about! I'm currently reading Jhumpa Lahiri's Unaccustomed Earth. Her writing is exquisite! She tells the story of the "generation gap" between American born children and their Bengali parents. Wonderful summer reading!
LOL, sometimes I wonder why I I bother when I, too, may not remember much the next week. But while reading a good book I can have a delightful experience. Good enough for me.
One of my favorite is " A Lion called Christian" You know, from that famous youtube video. My kids made fun of me, but It was a nice easy reading book. I I ever get a golden color male doodle, I am naming him Christian!!

That's such a great story. It brings tears to my eyes when I watch it!
You guys, er gals, are all making me wish I had more time to read! It's taking me months to get thru Lucid Dreaming - lol! I used to read a lot. Then my husband and I started our own business.... and the grandchildren came along... and then doodlekisses came along - haha! I know, excuses, excuses. My bookshelves are filled with books I keep buying to read "someday." You can see some of them here, in this photo I took of my granddaughter having a talk with Toby in my office (which is attached to my bedroom):

These days my "ME" time is divided by painting, photography, writing and reading. And I seldom have time for any. Ah, well, life is fun adventure! For now, I'll be content to read vicariously through all of you and add your suggestions to my list of books to buy and read someday... :)
