Looking for a teacup poodle breeder in or near NYC

Hello all,
    One of my student's families is having tremendous difficulty finding a teacup poodle breeder in NYC or even within a few hours.  They are desperate enough that they're considering a pet shop purchase.  If you have any recommendation I would greatly appreciate your help Thank you so very much!

Oh gosh...why do they NEED one so bad to consider a pet shop purchase?
They will find, if they research 'teacup' anything that 'teacup' anything is essentially not an AKC breed and typically the result of BYBs (or worse). Sorry to disappoint, but if they are looking for a pure breed poodle, why not just a TOY Poodle?

If your friends need a dog smaller than the average toy poodle (under 10" at the shoulder, average weight 6-9 lbs), they really need to look at a different breed, like a chihuahua. As the others have said, there is really no such thing as a "teacup" poodle, there is not one reputable breeder on the face of the earth who would even try to breed such a thing, and if your friends buy one, I promise you they are going to end up with a very sick dog.

Thank you so much for the feedback. And to think my greatest concern was just the pet shop purchase. I"ll push them towards the toy poodle. They want a small dog because they live in the city and will be taking it to the country on the weekends. From what you've told me, a toy size should certainly meet those needs. If you know of any reputable toy poodle breeders, please pass along their info! They are a wonderful family who will provide a loving home with constant companionship for one lucky pup. Thanks
