Which clippers to purchase? Andis AGC 2 Speed or the UltraEdge Super 2 Speed?

I can't find the difference between them.   Anyone with more experience wanna help me out?

I groom Motta and Miley myself and have the Oster A5 clippers and they get very hot so I want to try the Andis brand now.   The Osters work great but it's a little difficult and very slow at times. I was using a #40 blade with a #2 attachment to shave them down for summer and love it but it's so time consuming.    i'd like to try different blades....I think I want to try a #5FC or #5 blade or maybe even a #7 or #7FC...   They are not matted (or I say occasionally I find one depending on how long it has been since their last brush out)   but Miley especially gets tangles because of her curls.

Anyone have any opinions on this as well or advise?

One more question... IF I get the # 5 or 7 or FC....   can I use them alone or with an attachment?

Hi Barb, when you say you use a 3/4 inch blade I don't understand exactly what that means. Mine are #10, #15, #40, etc. They don't come in measurements. The combs do but if I used a 3/4 comb on a #15 or #40 blade, wouldn't I get the same length...3/4 inches?? I am so confused. Does Andis use a different blade system?
I went last night and got the Andis Ultra edge clippers. Petsmart said I can take them back after I use them if I don't like them!!

Nanci- I also purchased a 7FC blade. It is a metal blade that you use like you do the #40 but you don't need to use the plastic guard with it. I found this guide that was really helpful yesterday with on a Andis Clipper information page.

I'm a new doodle owner (Quinn is 6 months) and started with an Oster clipper. It bogged down and was pretty hopeless. I just bought the Andis Power Groom from Dog Show Store (amazing customer service) with the #5 (1/4" blade) and the difference is incredible. The Andis goes thru his coat like butter!! The #5 is a pretty short blade, but he's always panting so I think for summer it'll be good. I'll get a longer blade for a winter cut. The blade gets hot eventually but we're cutting 3" fur!!! With treats he's tolerating it well, tho it looks a bit choppy lol. We'll get better with practice. When I have time to upload a photo I'll do that.

It is a good idea to use Cool Lube or any other spray coolant for clipper blades away from the dogs face. It is not a healthy
product to inhale.
I used my Oster a5 clippers with a 7F Oster blade and it was wonderful!! I actually think i can take the Andies I got back since figureing out what blade to purchase. The metal blades are wonderful and 20 times better than using the plastic attachments!
Hey Wendy...if you used the 7F Oster blade without a comb, how long is your Doodle's hair? And did you have to order the blade? I can't find a store locally that sells grooming stuff, especially blades. Sometimes PetCo or PetSmart will have a #10 or #40. I would love to see a picture of your baby!!! thanks
