Please help...my 12 month old, extremely large and incredibly picky eater, has decided to go French on us and has discovered that the baby frogs, that are popping up all over my yard, are just sooooooooo delicious to eat...Sadly, this latest culinary delight has given her the worse diarrhea ever for the past two days and today, she is quite "pooky". As it is spring time these tiny frogs are everywhere and I am truly at a loss, apart from monitoring her every movement out there, to know what to do??? Also, anyone have any tips on diarrhea tips apart from rice and fish (she cannot eat chicken as that gives her diarrhea too)
Frances, I don't know what variety of frogs or toads the ones in your area might be, but some toads are extremely poisonous. There was a discussion posted on this here in the DK forum recently: http://www.doodlekisses.com/forum/topics/toads-can-be-deadly
I hate to say this, but you may very well have to monitor her when she is outside. Even if they're perfectly harmless, they're clearly not agreeeing with her, lol. Maybe someone knows of an environmentally safe product that can be used to get rid of them?
While the yuck factor to us is, well...yuck. To the dog, it is probably like a smorgesborg (sp). Try mixing a meal of rice and plain meat. You can add some sweet potato and/or pumpkin, also for the diarrhea and if any upset tummy.
Oh yes...she finds them very, very yummy....which is so odd...as the girl is the most picky of eaters..yet she has discovered her very own "treat". Thanks...I will try rice and meat..but I am sure she will turn her nose up to it :)
I found this article about frogs in your yard - toads, frogs I don't really know the difference or care to know. I find them all pretty gross. Hunter got a HUGE bullfrog when we were camping - it nearly did me in. She was playing with it and tossing it around yuck yuck yuck. My husband had to handle that one!
