I love to read and I have "downstairs" books and "upstairs" books. The downstairs ones are the more serious ones, or the more contemporary novels everyone reads. Upstairs though, is a whole different story. These are the books in my "I wouldn't be caught dead reading this on an airplane" category. Topping the list for me is the Twilight Saga. I loved these books. They tapped into some small reserve of teen romance and angst that I wasn't aware that I possessed.  My embarrassment over these books has nothing to do with the books themselves. Everyone I know has read them...including my friend's 12 year old daughter and all of her friends.

One of my friends "confessed" to reading the Vampire Diaries books with such angst that I thought she was going to tell me she was having an affair.

Meee toooo....Twilight. I felt like a little kid reading them. I hated admitting that I read them. I bought them all in hardback I love them so much. What is wrong with me?
I did the same thing! The worst was that I drove out of my way to get them at a different Borders than I usually go to!
Ok you guys have shamed me into read the Twilight series! My daughter has all of them - I will have to sneak them - I don't want her to think Mom is stopping to her middle school level! LOL
It's good to be at an age when you don't care so much what others think. Saves gas. Besides they could have thought you were buying them as gifts.
F - that makes too much sense :)
Now that's funny!!
Stephen King is mine, but only when I’m around snotty publishing people. I think most people who look down on him have never actually read him. That guy can tell a story!
I don't really have any guilty pleasures when it comes to reading. I loved the Harry Potter books, I guess that's as close as it comes. I tend to dislike the romance novels and the murder mystery stuff, I'm not big on mainstream bestsellers. My greatest joy comes every two years when Anne Tyler releases a new book, but since that just happened a few months ago, I have a long wait ahead.
I really enjoyed all of the Harry Potter books. I just read them all about 2 or 3 years ago when one of the movies came out. My husband read them and said they were great but he is not a reader normally so next to Field $ Stream I am sure most books are good!
US Weekly. I have such a hard time sitting down to read a book (I used to read much more...before baby...before DK!!!) that now, it's quite the accomplishment for me to skim through US Weekly =)
Adina - I read Entertainment Weekly every week without fail. I read it while I dry my hair. I have done this since college and have yet to date someone who didn't find it an odd habit!
No shame in Entertainment Weekly! I think they have some of the best pop culture writing out there.
