I finished "Whale Done!" and now moved on to the book called " Class and Schools" It is about how socio-economical differences and racial differences make differences in academical achievement and how we as educators/ parents can help kids to achieve better despite of it. Seems so lame reading these seriouse books, that is almost like college books.... But pretty interesting!! It says that even the income is the same, minority students perform less than their caucasian counter partner, because of the class differences and differences in parent's job types, etc.....So, it become crusial that educators and the parents understand those variables and try to accomodate them to maxmize the learning potentials......

I went to an inservice where the author of Class in Schools gave a presentation. It was very very interesting. I bought the book but haven't had time to read it yet.

I had just finished "One Good Dog" by Susan Wilson. It's a novel and it's a pretty good story. I only read it because I was assured that it has a happy ending, and it does.

I can't read books about animals or children that don't have happy endings, I will have to read that one. My list keeps getting longer!

To report back about my latest novel: "A Good Indian Wife" by Anne Cherian was wonderful. I finished it in 2 days while on my vacation this weekend. It gives some excellent insight into the culture of an arranged Indian marriage - just wonderful. Kind of like a backwards love story that shows how two people that do not even know each other get married, move back to the USA and fall in love after the fact. Fascinating cultural bits....

I am now reading "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" by Stieg Larsson, a Swedish writer. So far it is fabulous - a quick caption from the back of the book:

I'm just finishing "Fall On Your Knees" by Ann-Marie MacDonald. It's an old Oprah's Book Club book and deals with family history over several generations. Just my kind of reading.

I always thought Stieg Larsson's books looked interesting but have never actually picked one up. I'll have to check it out!

Well I read 100+ pages at the pool Saturday. Incredible. This guy's a great storyteller.
