We have noticed that Peri has grown taller, pretty much within the past week. She is a mini goldendoodle; she turned 1 in early April.  Peri pretty much stopped growing height-wise around 10 months (or so we thought).  She has shot up recently - probably 1 inch. Even the owner of her daycare commented on it.  She just seems taller to us.  Before she was probably 15 1/2 inches tall at the withers, but now she is closer to 17".

I have definitely heard of standards continuing to grow, but have any of you with minis out there experienced a height growth spurt after they are a year old?

Beemer is a mini also....has grown 1.5 ince since his 1st birthday in January.....Comiskey is NOT happy!
It's really coincidental that you posted this because I've noticed over the past few weeks that Guinness was definitely looking taller. Unfortunately, I haven't been measuring him right along, so I'm only talking from observation. He's also a 15 month old mini. He's also gained a couple of pounds...now 18.5, which the Vet thought is perfect for his build. I thought minis completed skeletal growth much before this...but now I'm not sure that's always the case.
Halas is a mini, but I think he's now tall enough to be considered a medium. I wasn't tracking his height, but I'm pretty sure he's grown taller since his 1st birthday. He's 2 yrs, 10 months old now, so I think he's finally done.
Leslie, I am with you - Peri is on the verge of being "medium"....my breeder called Peri's litter "mini/medium" - good thing because Peri is the smallest at 25 pounds! Funny, isn't it? I think she is a perfect size :)

This is an interesting topic because I also thought their skeletal growth stopped sooner also (as Jane said).
I always call Halas a mini, since his daddy is a miniature poodle. But if I go by some of the measurements I've seen, he falls in the medium category. We measured him for flyball, and I think he was 18.5 inches at the shoulder. And he's about 29 lbs right now, although I think he could stand to lose about a pound. I agree with you on the perfect size thing. I always describe Halas as big enough for a bear hug, small enough to carry or have sitting on your lap.
NOT to get into the early/spay and neuter topics ....no no no ........ so a question you may want to ask yourself is when Peri was spayed. Early spay will result in higher heights in canines.

At what age was pretty Peri spayed?
6 months.
That seems to be the average. Well look at it this way, at least she does not wear JEANS! My sons would grow 1 month after school began.... darnit. So then I thought, okay, I have cut off shorts for next summer. Then they would get the chubby boy look right before summer and those shorts would not fit.. darnit.

Peri, no Levi's for you girl.
Oh I really don't care what size she ends up. She is still definitely "mini" to me! On our morning walks we see the giant version of her - a standard doodle - probably 85ish pounds!

Thanks for the responses. Seems like this is totally normal for her age.
Ahhhh she just wants to be taller like her boyfriends. Sweet.
Hmmm, I'll have to keep an eye on Chewie. I assumed he was full grown at 13 months as I haven't noticed any difference in months now. His weight hasn't changed much (up and down between 24 and 26 lbs). As far as height, I can never get him to stand still enough to measure, but he looks the same as always.
