Billy loves the water! We are trying to train him to only go into the pool when we are there with him. He was getting the idea and staying out but since we went in the pool with him today,  he has gotten confused and has been in three more times since his bath and blow dry....I know this has to be a difficult concept for a dog to grasp, but short of spending a small fortune to fence the pool I am at a loss....any ideas for training out there?

Don't let Billy outside unless you can supervise him? And teach him to not go into the water before he gets the GO command from you.

Good LUCK!! You are going to have to let the kids only go into their side of the yard unless you are out there with them. BOTH of them. Unfortunately, Lexi has to bare the burden of Billy's training.

I agree with Eva - he has to learn only to go swimming when you allow him too. Take him out on a leash, and only let him in the pool when you walk him to the steps, make him sit and wait, take off the leash, sit and wait and then release him to go in and swim. I would also take him out with the same routine but NOT let him go swimming. He has to wait for you to let him get his treat.

Ha - I would love to see this!!! Can't you wait until we get back in January?????? WOL!!!!

Good Luck! We thought we had Mitzi trained to not go into the pool unless we let her. Ha! Today she saw our granddaughter
wearing her bathing suit and decided not to wait! The minute the door opened she ran out and jumped in! She will be 3 in
October and we had thought she was doing better with her training. Some things must just be too good to resist!
