Constipation

I guess it was the rice that did Charlie in.

 I cook home made food for Butter, since he is so old and cannot eat the kibbles anymore. (He would have a very loose stool ) This time, I cooked it with chicken liver, and off course Charlie wants to eat it, too! ( She is on kibble) So, I felt bad for her, and fed her butter's food with rice in it. Ater eating this for a couple of days, she got constipated for about 3 days, her poop was coming out in little chunks. She was struggling to push, as well as to cut it of...... It was thick and stiff , almost like clay like consistency.....

 

I gave her small amount of boiled sweet potato ( There were no cans of pumpkin in the local grocery store! They said that there were pumpkin shortage!! Can you believe this?) and some milk for 2 days now. Her stool is coming out much easier, but still thick in consistency.....

 

It works for Butter to harden his poop, but it made Charlie miserable.......

Is there another home remedy for constipation?

Poor Ned too. He hates to go poop on-leash and he has had to do this for a week now. He limits his poo time to once a day and he is finally going then only because he has to go so badly. It is always very firm but now it is dry and chunky. The next campground has a little dog run and we hope this suits him better.

Her poop is OK now. No more Butter's tasty home cooking!
