This list is devoted to "National" stores & restaurants that have known to be "doodle friendly",

 

This can change by store or region so its it is always advised that you are prepared to leave just in case they are no longer "doodle' friendly.  Some of the stores/restaurants listed have outdoor area's and I will note if it is for the "outdoor" area only. 

 

As someone said it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission :-)  But do what is most comfortable for you and your doodle, call in advance or hope that they melt when they see your doodle and let you in!

Lucy and Sophie have been going to Lowes since they were 8 weeks old. We just got a big ole rubber maid tub, put some baby blankets in the bottom of it and would sit it in the shopping cart and off we would go. Many of the Lowe's employees now know them by name. (They don't recognize us if we go without them, but they know Lucy and Sophie by name).

Nordstrom and Saks are big surprises! Borders, also... i have never seen dogs in these stores. Wow!

Difinately the Lowes in LaPlata, Maryland is. Went in with Gus and Lilly and were welcome with open arms. Also a new store that recently opened in my town of Waldorf, MD. Christmas Tree Shops (I understand it's fairly big in the New England area) is also. Went in and the manager said no problem. Normally only had people bring in small dogs, but loved my two. She commented that they were better behaved than most children who come in!!

the Christmas Tree shops have the best junk in the world. You never know what you'll find but sometimes there is something great for very little.

How true. We were kinda disappointed the first time we went there. Not what I expected from the reviews I read from some local people. Thought it was more like a upscale dollar store! But they were great today when I went in with Gus and Lilly.

That's always nice to hear. They are owned by the Bed and Bath folks so I guess it's not that surprising.

The Borders here in Fresno told me that I would have to take Kachi out unless he was a 'service' dog! :(
So maybe its up to the individual stores whether they allow dogs.

I was disappointed today when I called REI to see if they had a swamp cooling vest for Morgan and if I can bring him with. They did have the vest but I could not bring him in unless he was a 'service' dog. Of all places.....I would think a sporting goods store would allow our pets to visit as well.

Yes, you would think so, but they are a national franchise.

Huff has been going to Macy's since he was around 12 weeks old. He comes with us to a lot of restaurants (in the outside area). He was never kicked out of any store but Sears and Verizon Wireless Store. He has been in Nordstrom's a few times too. We hardly ever leave him at home alone and it would be very nice if there was a grocery store that is dog friendly. It probably won't happen but it would be nice. Sak's Fifth Avenue kind of surprised me. I don't think I have one near me though. This list is so cool.:) I am going to print it out and keep it with me just in case they try to kick us out of any of these stores:)
