I know we have brought up the discussion of buying SUVs for your doods.  My current car is a "luxury" sedan that is a maintenance nightmare.  I am beyond sick of dealing with it.

The local Honda dealer is offering fabulous deals and I have been liking the new CRVs lately.  Does any other DKer have one of these?  I am loving the light green ones with tan leather.  Do your doods like them???  LOL!  I am just thinking about impending beach trips with doodle and chi.  How nice would it be to have the extra cargo room (not to mention a warranty???)???

I just got a CRV a month ago- love it and so does Tucker. Plenty of room. This is the best time of year to get one- for sure.
My DH works at the Honda Engine Plant in Ohio (So did I, that's where I met him!) Anyway, DH gets a new company car every 2 years. He just traded in the CRV for a Pilot. He really liked the CRV for the dogs, I did too. We probably would have got another CRV but we decided to sell my Jeep (I loved my Jeep but it was 10 yrs old and AC quit working.) and we wanted a larger size SUV to replace the CRV. Something we could travel in with the doods and be able to climb in the back with the them to sleep on long trips while the other drives. I don't think you could go wrong with a CRV. I'm not just pushing Honda's because my DH works there. They are great cars, very reliable and well built. By the way, we had the maroon CRV with a grey leather and interior. My dogs get really dirty so no more light colored interiors for us!!
We went with black exterior and interior this time.
Ummmm, can we go to the beach with you too??? Sheba & Duke LOVE to go to the beach!!

Here is a picture from our trip to Colorado last month. (Forgive the mess in the back of the car!! : ) This is the back of our Honda Pilot. Notice how close Sheba's head is to the ceiling? Not a good thing. When the dogs stand in the back they block the view in the rearview mirror. (I guess this wouldn't be an issue if you have smaller dogs or your dogs ride in the back seat.) We are going to buy some harnesses and seat belts soon as I don't like my dogs loose in the car in case there is an accident. I really encourage everyone to seatbelt their dogs securely!!!!

Here is a photo from a trip we took to Florida last Christmas. This is the back of the CRV. Notice when the back seat is folded down the dogs ride lower and they don't block the view in the rearview mirror if they are standing up. I don't think the dogs liked riding in the back of the CRV as well as the Pilot. If they wanted to look out the window in the CRV they had to stand up. In the Pilot they can lay down and look out the windows. As I said before, if we didn't need the extra space (and a vehicle large enough to tow our trailer) we would have definitely got another CRV!

Great illustrations Ann. It almost looks like there is more head room in the CRV than the Pilot. Is that true? Very good point about the tan interior. I think it will be fine in leather though. I had a tan leather interior in my last car and it wiped up pretty easily.
We've had a CRV and a Jeep most recently. Both have been great but sadly the Jeep was involved in an accident and has been written off now so now we're looking at a Landrover Freelander. We're in the UK so names might be different but it has to be a 4x4. No question!
I have IVORY interior in my current car and it surprisingly wipes up just fine.

Well Doodle friends, looks like I am waiting on this. My car needs a major tune up (which is pricey on my make and model), so I am going to get that fixed and then sell it later on. CRV Is still on the top of my list for a new car.

What is interesting is that I really want one with leather and a sunroof and that REALLY changes the price. I could almost get a lexis rx. Decisions decisions decisions!
Good luck with the car shopping Allyson!
Allyson, you should seriously consider looking at the Lexus Certified Pre-Owned vehicles. That's what I did when I bought my RX. Three-year 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty, everything good as new including tires & brakes, detailed down to the tiniest thing, and they even give you brand new floor mats. You get the exact same level of customer service that you would get if you bought their top-of-the line brand new vehicle- you are treated like royalty, at least at my dealer. I couldn't be happier.
I used to have the RX. I loved it. I'd definitely recommend it.
I just googled the Lexus RX. They are sharp!
I'm sorry Pat, I didn't see this! I don't think there is more head room in the CRV. There is a cargo area in the back of the CRV where there are no seats to fold down and the second seat fold forward to tuck in behind the front seats. So, actually the dogs ride lower in the CRV. In the back of the Pilot they are riding ON TOP of the folded down seats so they ride higher.
You are lucky you get the employee discount Ann!
There is NO WAY we could afford a Pilot otherwise! We are definitely thankful!
