This cracks me up because I have two Doodles, and each time I was looking for a medium. I actually ended up with a mini and a Standard. I guess it's almost impossible to tell how they'll end up when they're puppies. It doesn't matter at all...they're both perfect.
When I 'ordered' my mini I was told that he would be 25-35 full grown. He's four months old and just weighed in at 22 lbs! I hope my mini isn't going ot be a medium. I of course, love him to death and won't be returning him either way.
Hate to say it...your mini will probably be more medium! I love mediums though. Peri is 25 and her brothers are over 30 pounds- one is almost 40. Great size still.
I was told my mini would be under 25 pounds, likely around 20 pounds. The breeder did say that it is hard to predict for sure, and that different sized doodles come in the same litter. Melody is 11 pounds. The Vet said she won't likely get bigger than 14 pounds, and I doubt she will reach that! The other doodles were larger. She is the sweetest thing. I wouldn't trade her, either!
Oddly I didn't care how big either of my doodles was. I actually just wanted the doodle from the next available litter at the time. Both of mine were supposed to be around 50lbs. Well neither of them is even close to 50lbs. Fenway is all of 25lbs and Dustin is about 80lbs right now, but he's only a year and a half. I love them just the same big or small. Guess this doesn't help you much though! Hope you love your little one.
Ha Ha! Thanks for all the replies. I have a mini breeding mom that will retire after a final litter, and a fabulous mini that throws about 50/50 mini/med. But then heard the fleece is more popular not wool, the mini or standard is more in demand, and curly less than wavy, lighter colors are better than dark, and on and on!!! It's confusing to try and anticipate future customer's needs. It sounds like all of you are a lot less picky than some potential customers that I've spoken with - you love the dog regardless of the details. I've really enjoyed my medium boy that we're keeping as a breeder, he's a big clumsy oaf with a heart of gold. But he certainly eats much more than the tiny ones. And what goes in must come out, so you know what comes next.
I have a Mini (Charlie) who is 2 1/2 years old and is 50lbs.....so I always have to explain that he's a mini. Really, a Medium is usually that size. I can actually say though that most people that meet him always say what a perfect size, not too small and not too large. I love all the sizes of Doodles. We are thinking of getting another Mini, a brother for Charlie!!

How tall does Charlie stand? Height is more of an indicator of their true class than weight. If Charlie's in the photo, he does look like a medium. And a handsome one - is he a creme or a white? Our minis are 15 or 16 inches and weigh less than 25 pounds. There are certainly advantages to all sizes, it's very individual.
We do have a 6-month old mini boy available if you go to the Labradoodles for Sale chat....two actually, although I think I may be donating the one male for a family we know whose son has ptsd.
I'm expecting a medium puppy. Mum is 19" and Dad is 20". I'm not even sure what that is going to look like and I don't mind if he ends up bigger. It's really hard to imagine what that is going to look like as you need photo's of Dogs standing beside a person to get an idea. I can't wait though to get my puppy!
