Mistaken for PWD?

Is your doodle ever mistaken for a PWD?  If so, how do you feel about it?   At least once a month, when I'm walking Charlie, it seems someone will stop and ask if he is a water dog.  I think this is because he is black and he doesn't look too much like a poodle (at least not in the clips that we keep him in).  I assume because the President has a black PWD, this may happen more frequently with black doodle owners than others.  What is your experience?

We had it happen once right before the Obamas started talking PWD. I had never even seen one so had no idea why someone was asking me that. Went home looked it up and then I understood.

Doodles are better looking --just my opinion.

Yes, Starlit does get mistaken for a PWD. I have no idea how though. She is huge and LONG. She would be a very tall tall long long PWD

Yes! Once someone asked me if she was "like the President's dog". It was a bit unexpected but that was the only time. I do think black doodles are much prettier!

I get asked if Duff is a "water dog" all the time. Sometimes it throws me off and I respond, "YES! He loves the water!" And then I realize that they meant Portuguese Water Dog. We also get asked on a regular bases if he is a Bouvier, a Giant Schnauzer, a Kerry Blue Terrier...and then the obvious doodle guesses. Not many people guess Aussiedoodle right away, lol. Duff is quite a bit bigger than a PWD and a Kerry Blue (although he looked exactly like one we ran into when he was 8 months old) and significantly smaller than a Bouvier.

Yep, happens to us quite often. But I do think more people ask "is that a labradoodle?!"

I actually live in Lower Manhattan near Ground Zero, so we have large crowds of tourists on a regular basis. I'm asked at least daily, if Paz is a PWD. Paz looks like a huge muppett, so more often I'm asked "He is so cute and what is he?" or where are his eyes because his fur covers his eyes. I think he can just wear a sign that says I'm not a PWD and yes, I do have eyes!

I know I'm late to this discussion but YES, all the time. The immediate assumption is that Manny is a PWD! Because he is a "Golden"doodle the assumption is "gold" only!
