Nope, I just got a Kindle about 4 months ago. I saw the NOOK while I was in line to get an autographed copy of Coach Payton's book. It looks great...and has color too.
I love not having the books pile up but I hate not being able to share.
I have never heard of a Nook. I have the first generation Kindle which I loved but you didn't get photos or color on it. Also, it had some "issues" with the location of the buttons and such. The later models they redesigned and I understand are much better. Also, the Kindle didn't have a light in it so reading at night you needed a book light. I how have my iPad and it is awesome! It has replaced my laptop and Kindle for fun stuff. Amazon and Apple have an agreement so I am able to buy my books through Amazon on my Kindle account and have them sent to my iiPad. Plus, the iPad has color, lighting and a much larger screen to read from. I can increase the font just like with the Kindle. The iPad is all I need!!!
He considered the I-pad, but for me I already have a brand new computer (touch screen, all in one), and a laptop, and I don't work any more, so the IPad just seemed like a lot of money for a toy so he settled for the nook. I wish it had a lighted screen, but I'll have to get a book lite as well. Only thing I like about the Kindle better is I think it has a better keypad.
I am envious of your IPad. I have the older Kindle Dx and I just finished my first novel on it. It went well and it's lighter than a big hardcover book. I can share books between the Kindle, laptop and , I think my Droid. But who could bear to read a book on the phone screen. What will they think of next. Many out of copyright books, like Pride and Prejudice, are available for free. Most best sellers are $10. If I ever leave my porch I can take 35,000 books with me--ha. Maybe someday the IPAD or similar devices will decrease in price, that would be nice.
I have the Sony ebook reader, but I like my IPad much better. How do go about ordering books through Amazon and sending them to your IPad? The selection on Amazon is better.
I have been wanting a Kindle, Nook, any of them. I haven't started to research any of them at all but I am definately going to keep notes - I like the comments on the light and the keyboard. Enjoy your Nook!
Its an excellent resource and the one I used. I love finishing a book at 10:30 at night and being able to download another one immediately. I went with the Kindle 2 at the time. I got it online for about $150. I wasn't sure I would like not actually having a book in my hands so I went with the cheaper option. I have adjusted just fine, thank you. ;-) . Another thing is that you can read outside in sunlight no problem..unlike a phone or computer. The one thing I haven't done is use it for text books (I'm finishing up my MPH). I know you can highlight stuff and get back to it, just don't think it will be the same.
I have accidentally highlighted and I think it would work. Especially for heavy texts it's a blessing unless color is important for illustrations. Many, many years ago, I actually cut apart , into sections, a textbook because I was pregnant and there was no way that book could perch on my stomach. And It was hard but necessary to allow myself to do this.
