Nervous momma here, just looking for input.  Gavin has never been sick before so I have no prior experience.  This morning he was very lethargic.  Had to pull him along during his morning walk and no energy since.  He is drinking and taking ice, but not eating (which in itself is not entirely unusual), peeing regularly but no poo.  His nose is moist but warmish.  His ears are warm.  He still responds when we call him.  It has been very hot and humid here, but he is inside in the air mostly.  Do dogs get "bugs" occasionally and if so how long do I wait before seeing a vet.  He received his flea/tick treatment on Monday.  Thanks in advance.

Ah ha! Thanks Donna! Guess that's why I heard "it" so many times before....
:-)
I am trying to visualize this and I really can't quite. I have done autopsies on people in the distant past and still I am unable to quite see how that would work. But rubber bands are certainly listed as a possible cause of intestinal obstruction in dogs and cats.
Autopsies?! Wow - interesting! But that's something I wouldn't try to visualize! LOL
Seems hard to believe that was the cause. There are no sharp edges, it clearly could pass through and it doesn't seem like it would be big enough, or small enough for that matter, to cause many problems. So possibly it was not related to the problem?
Awesome news that Gavin is getting back to his usual self! He probably doesn't have much to poop since he hasn't ate uch and most of the food got used up since he hadn't been eating!

Kudos to you mom for checking the poop situation! Glory that the rubber band came out. I'd bet that was it. When Zoe eats a no no......she gets that Something isn't right look and seems depressed. She throws up of the time, but I'm always on the poop patrol.

Positive thoughts and prayers going up for Gavin and his mom!!
