My Mom's Gallery Opening

I just realized I should have let local doodle owners KNOW so they could visit!  *Doh*  Anyway, my mom showcased her new paintings at a gallery yesterday and here are some photos below.  The majority are her memories of Communist Romania:

The writing displayed next to the paintings are poems she wrote about her memories to help people understand her experience.

My favorite one out of the communist memory themed ones is the one under her sign below...but I don't have a close up of that one (I wasn't physically there and just using what was taken by my mom or step-dad).

Out of everything she's done these trees are my top favorites along with the painting of cows I have in my house.

I believe it's all oil with collage.

She is temporarily using this building to display her work.  She does not have a permanent gallery that is hers.  All of the work you see is hers.

WOW! Adina! Your mom's work is phenomenal!!! Really deep, and thought provoking. And darn - I was just in L.A.! I would have gone by the gallery had I known she had a showcase going on. Do YOU paint at all?

No I don't. I was above average at drawing in elementary but that's as far as I ever attempted to go...LOL. I tried watercolor in college but hated it. I think I'd prefer oils, but I just don't have the patience for painting. I've got something artsy in me...but not sure what it is.

Adina, These are incredible. I would love to see the poems as well. My sister lives in L.A. and has a real interest in art. I will pass this on to her. I would love to see this!!!! Thank you so much for sharing. When did your Mother move from Romania?

I think she is very clever. Also, those trees are just beautiful. What colors did she use in the painting you have?

We emigrated from Romania to the USA in the mid 80's.

The painting I have is of a bunch of cows on a grassy hill in front of a mountain...eating grass, lounging, etc (so it's true to life nature colors). It looks like a photograph! Even 6 inches away from the painting it looks like it was printed on canvas from a photograph. The detail is awesome!

So, you were born in Romania and immigrated. It would be so interesting to hear of your lives there.

It would be fun to see a photo of your Mom's painting...the one you have in your home. It sounds just wonderful.

These pictures are amazing. I love this. You are right...it looks like a photograph! Incredible attention to detail.

What is tough to really see in photos is the rich texture of the trees.   It's sort of like a mosaic and there are real leaves used for parts of it, etc.  LOVE those trees!
