I hope this hasn't been posted yet....I did a search and didn't see it.  This is so sweet, I just loved it!

I AM A SHELTER DOG AND I RESCUED A HUMAN TODAY.

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid.

As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life.

She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship.

A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes. I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one.

I rescued a human today.

Sweet! :o)
It is so true to me..... Eventhough they are not rescue, my dogs always save me from the pain and saddness in my life......
Mine too Kyoko, mine too. Aren't we lucky humans to know that we can be rescued. So many people out there who have no idea what they are looking for in their lives. I'm lying right next to mine now. Both are trying to see how they can help me :) They think slobbering on my keyboard is what I need now
Yep, I came home during lunch and had a heated phone discussion with my car mechanic. Peri literally sat on my feet and licked me. Then looked at me and grinned. What the dood would we do without pets saving us?
Slobbering is known to increase computer speeds, didn't you know?
:)~~~
That's wonderful. I agree that dogs really save us, rescue or not.
What a nice thought! Thank you for sharing!
The shelter gave me a printed copy of this when I adopted Callie. I thought a year and a half later it would be sweet but not move me so much because I'm familiar with it. WRONG. Sitting at my desk crying because it's sad, sweet, and true!
Just what I needed this week- more tears! Thanks for sharing this April, I really like it!
Very sweet. It brought tears to my eyes.
Heartbreaking! I so wish more humans were rescued by a dog! I know I was - 3 times!!! Thank you Samantha, Charli and Mickey for saving me!!
To those fosters who crossed through my home - bless you for making me a better human!!
