In my recent Fetch Magazine, Founders Vet Clinic in Brea, CA did an in-depth, undercover review of Pet Insurance Plans. There is a comparison of the Top 3 (in their opinion obviously). Here is the link on the founders vet website.
Thanks for the information. I started policies on Gus and Lilly with PetPlan last month. I feel I made the right choice after reading other DK members opinions on each. We went with the Gold Plan. I look it as piece of mind for $60.00 ($30each) a month.
My new puppy had a yeast infection in both ears when I took her for her first vet appointment a few days after I got her. Does she now have a pre-existing condition that will never be covered?
I should hope not. This is not something permanent or structural or whatever and any doodle, or dog for that matte,r. But you know insurance cos. I would suggest regular ear cleaning anyway to ward the ear infections off, could get one. I've been using Malacetic Otic and we've had no problems.
The Vet gave me Epi-Otic to use for maintenance...after two weeks of antifungal treatment. I also shaved under her ears and plucked all the hair I could get out of the tiny little canals. Here's hoping.
I don't pluck and I've managed. I think unless they have very hairy canals you can get by without plucking. But I do pull the hair in the canal out and cut it, very carefully, shorter, making sure none of the cut hair falls back in. Cutting or shaving under the ear, as you've done helps too. If the ears get wet ever, it's good to use the solution afterward.
There is something that Jacquie swears by for ears, but I don't remember the name ..... maybe she will see this and jump in here. We have been having ear issues lately as well.
Thank you so much for posting this information. We have had dogs my whole life and I have decided it is time to get insurance. Veterinary bills have become outrageous. I am really grateful for the help in choosing a good policy.
