It never ceases to amaze me how smart doodles are and how quickly they learn and how they remember things! There is a trick I taught Tucker about a year ago and I had forgotten about it. Decided to try it to see if he would remember- he did. Tucker has learned to do quite a few tricks / commands that are not so uncommon and I thought it would be nice to hear from others ( maybe I need motivation)........Does your doodle have talents??
Doodles are soo smart. Murphy was the same way. I taught him to roll over by the time he was 12 weeks old using a treat and having him follow it. NOW that he is 99lbs and all legs it is very hard for him to do.Its really kinda funny seeing those goofy long legs trying to roll over.
We taught him play dead, but he is sooo melodramatic. It takes him forever to die and he is moaning the entire time.
Webster has many talents, he spent last year apprenticing as an electrician, plumber, carpenter, concrete worker, etc. He is an all around handyman's helper. We were reminded of this yesterday when we were assembling some furniture. I found this awesome sale where they had bookcases and desks for 75% off - of course, they had to be assembled. My husband and I were putting pieces together and Webster would bring us the screwdriver or hammer. If we left the tool a few feet away, Web would get the tool and bring it over. We have to use the tool he brings or he decides it is unneeded and take it somewhere to chew.
Webster is also a a budding biologist. He has found 3 box turtles and brought them to us - alive, unhurt, safely engulfed in his mouth. He has determined that the many frogs and toads around our house ooze a nasty taste when threatened and he has identified many local bugs. Currently he is comparing how high various grasshoppers can jump. We are hoping that he doesn't expand his studies to skunks.
Quincy carries his own lunch when he goes to work with Dad. He knows" back up" when we are playing catch and he is too close. He knows go find Dad (or Mom) so maybe we could use the note thing as well. One of his best talents, even though he doesn't like getting brushed, when he sees that I'm getting ready to brush him he will go and get on the table we use and wait for me. One of his talents that I'm not so thrilled with, if I forget to close my purse he steals any piece of paper he can find in it. Instead of give me your paw our version is " who's the man" and he will tap the top of your extended fist.
Yes, I think Quincy could easily learn the note thing. He already has the command down. Once Tara had the command it was just a matter of getting her accustomed to having something stuck in her collar. Let me know how it goes!!
Charlie sings when my son plays piano. But for some reason, she would not do it, if someone rather than my son is in the room. I always set her up and peek through the window..... It is sort of like when the dogs howled to the siren, but its cute....
