After almost 2 1/2 years of Tori eating and drinking from the same bowls, I think it's time to toss them.  What type of bowls do you think is best.  We tried the metal - she won't have anything to do with it, don't know if it's the shine or reflection or what.  I heard ceramic is good, but I worry about the paint on it?  Do you think that is monitored on dog food bowls?  Ya' never know...members here have had 'issues' with famous people signing their names to products that are NOT good!  I wonder if Tori will actually realize her bowls were changed.....

We use stainless for Chewie, but he would eat out of ANYTHING...as long as his food was in it. I know I've heard plastic is not good and as far as ceramic, as long as it has no cracks that could harbor bacteria, should be ok. We always used ceramic for our previous dog and he lived a very long, healthy life. What kind has Tori been using?
Ummm... afraid to admit (LOL) .... plastic with a rubber edge... I heard that plastic is no good, and I'm getting tired of always cleaning out the rubber edge so it stays mold free. Didn't think about the ceramic and cracking tho' - very good point!
We use stainless steel, we do have a plastic water bowl upstairs and this is what Quincy does with it when it is empty.Needless to say it is a little rough around the edges.

Hi Shelly...
We have always used stainless bowls for Sasha...
After doing research on which type of bowl is best...yes...I even researched this (LOL)...I read that they were suppose to be best because of the ease of keeping them clean...no chance for lead in paint which can sometimes be found in ceramic...etc.
Have you tried a stainless bowl lately with Tori?
Maybe she will eat from one now...
On the other hand...I know many people who use ceramic...and their dogs do just fine.
Just be sure to check to make sure there isn't any lead in the paint...and check for cracks when you wash them...something that I know you would do anyway.
I'm sure you'll find something that will work well for Tori.
I think I will try stainless again.. as I TOO did research this week - LOL... Maybe I can find one with a less shiny surface that doesn't reflect as much!

Thanks! Something else to add to my list of "things to do before ssss-school starts" - LOL
We use stainless with the non-skid bottom for both food and water. I also clean mine by soaking them in hot water about twice a week. The bowls come in a variety of shapes, so maybe it's the shape of it? Mine are the ones that look smaller on top then taper down to a wider bottom.
Hello again...
I'm not sure if you already found a stainless bowl...but I just saw one advertised that might work for Tori.
You can find it at Pet Smart...and it's a Martha Stewart bowl.
It comes in three pieces...and the interesting thing that might make this work for Tori is that the stainless bowl fits in a plastic or ceramic outter shell... which would hide the shiny look from her...and then there is also a rim that matches the outter shell...so that the shiny stainless is covered. Tori would only see the stainless on the inside of the bowl.
I hope that I explained that well...and didn't totally confuse you??!! lol...
Well...I just saw this and thought of you and Tori...and thought that I would send it along...
Good luck in your search...
Hi Susan. I saw this bowl too. I'm looking for a food and water bowl for our new puppy...she comes tomorrow. Do you think this would be a good choice for a puppy? Also, do you know what size would be appropriate? She will grow up to be about 25 lbs. Thanks for any information you have!
