I am reading The Wet Nurses Tale...about a young woman in late 1800's England who becomes pregnant by accident and her father farms her out to be a wet nurse...it's great book!
Next I will be reading the Lion by Nelson DeMille...anyone read either of these books?
I'll have to put the one about the wet nurse on my list of books to read. It sounds like something I would like. I had to stop reading for fun a couple of weeks ago, now that I'm in school mode. I need to stay focused :)! Books pull me in and I can't stop reading! I hope to start up again soon.
I probably read at least 20 books this summer and, unless I actually read the back, I couldn't tell if I had read them. I am reading a book right now that we bought for a summer read because we thought it was new. My DH read it and said it was great and I finally started what seemed like a very familiar book soooo I re-looked at the copyright date. It was re-issued in 2010 (hence my error) but originally written in 2000! At least I can't quite remember the ending for sure. It is one of the Elizabeth Peter's Amelia Peabody series.
Nooooo! I HAVE to check out the end again. The current Elizabeth Peter's book - I have forgotten the details, but I am pretty sure I remember who the villan (how do you spell that?) is but I am enjoying it anyway.
Being a Southern girl, I have started "South of Broad" by Pat Conroy. It takes place in Charleston and chronicles the life of a boy plagued by his brothers suicide at age 9 and how one summer and his meeting of newcomers to the city change his life forever. I am just getting into it but it is beautifully written and I am thoroughly enjoying it.
