The dogs have been in their kennels more then usual today -- it's pouring rain.  Every time we walk them outside they end up soaked and so they go in their kennels to dry.  Unfortunately with a puppy.. by the time she dries she needs to go again.  Cycle continues.

Tonight both dogs went outside I dried feet and they were in the living room.. I noticed Violet about to squat and whisked her outside.  She came in, 10 minutes later went to squat --- and thats when I started to worry.  She squatted and whimpered.  No pee.

I took her outside, she squatted several times, every five minutes or so...  not apparently getting relief.  I called my husband to come outside, starting to panic.  I went inside and called the emergency vet.

She's in route there now with my husband.  (Our three kids are in bed, so one of us had to stay here.)

Now... I wait.

My husband is certain he saw her physically pee this afternoon.

Trying not to worry.  Hoping it's nothing and I overreacted.

The vet (perhaps tech?) that I spoke with said it could be an infection.  That might explain why we had so many accidents yesterday... I know when humans get bladder infections they pee like crazy.  It certainly feels like Violet needed to go every 30 minutes - 1 hour yesterday.

Anyway, I am just rambling.  Trying to make the time past faster... and I needed to vent my concerns.

oh my goodness, this is not a good day for the doodles!! You did the right thing!! keep us posted, many pawsitive thoughts to you and violet..
Sounds like she might have UTI. My neighbor's dogs (both GR and Cocker Spaniel) are prone to having UTI, and each time one of them has it, the poor pup will be squatting, and straining to pee every few steps she takes... I think it is must be a painful condition. And if it is indeed UTI, a course of antibiotic should clear it up easier..., she needs lots of fluid; my neighbor will add electrolyte to their water to encourage more water intake, and take them out to potty more often. Occasionally, add some cranberries to their diet.
Painful--oh heck yeah! and miserable--miserable--miserable flu like symptoms. It's been 20 years for me and I never forgot them.

Hope she feels better soon. I second the cranberry recommendations and I know dogs love them :)
Poor baby.... I hope she feels better soon....
I do think it sounds like a UTI and within 24 hours she should be much better.
Sorry to hear about your Baby Girl!! It has been a tough day for the Doodles!!! Prayers and healing thoughts heading her way!! Keep us posted!!
Poor Violet and poor you. I hope it's nothing serious...as the others have said, if it's a UTI, some meds should have her feeling better in a day or so. I hope that's the case.
Oh my, first Bandit, then Oliver and now Violet. What is going on with the Doodles??? Sounds like UTI to me too. Poor baby. Keep us all posted!!!
Update.. They think either stones or UTI. She does not have an enlarged bladder so the stones are unlikely.

They gave her subcutaneous fluids and sent us home with antibiotics. Our vet is open on Saturday.. they suggested we do a follow up with out vet.

The vet said that UTI's are common in young female puppies. Once things are full grown and they are spade there is less yeast and longer urethra so less chance of infections.

Violet is sleeping at my feet, she looks miserable and I can see she trusts us to make it better. We will make it better.
I'm glad she home. I hope the antibiotics help and she feels much better tomorrow.
It is so hard when they're sick. You reacted quickly though, and now that she's had some fluids and has started on the antibiotics she should be fine. Let us know how she's doing this morning. I also think the cranberries help. Guinness had a UTI as a puppy, and I've been giving him dried cranberries as treats ever since. He's never had another one. I'm not sure that the cranberries are the reason, but I tend to think they help.
I am thrilled to hear that she is home with you!!
Charli suffered from UTIs - antibitics cleared it up. She did have struvite crystals in her urine (which is not unusual in puppy girls). The vet kept pushing me to feed her some kind of prescription food which is also not unusual. I would not and we had a big discussion on that! We have gotten past the crystal thing as she 'aged'.
She was spayed at a very, very early age so I don't know if that has anything do to with it as much as growing up - but I am no expert!
I also throw crasins in with for both girls several times a week.
I hope she is back to her puppy self real quick!!!
