Ha! Maybe RUBY will be wearing one of those DOGGY diapers next time she comes over. That would be a good payback!
Counselors making the beds at camp? You must live in a ritzy area in the east. Our kids bring along their sleeping bags and sleep in their own bags. The mattresses are plastic covered (heavy brown plastic) and they are washed down after each group. And no food of any kind is allowed in the cabins to keep the critters out. The kids get really dirty after a week (many do not shower) and are excited to get home and into the shower at the end of the week. Bedbugs - never heard of them!
Tim goes to a Special Needs Camp....I can't even imagine what the beds would look like if these kids made them. I have to say I really like the idea of the camp mattresses that are washed down after each group. That makes a lot of sense to me. Bedbugs are a big deal around here....it's very freaky. Even some of the really great hotels have had problems with them. Just the thought of it "creeps me out".
They make ones that are terrycloth (? or feel like a thin version of it) and sealed on one side. We have them on our mattresses. Not like the old plastic bag stuff they used to have. The only problem with the new ones is that they are usually not sealed along the side. Ours goes on like a sheet and the top of the mattress is protected.

I think we paid $99 for ours when we got our mattress - but well worth it. Stuff happens. It also lowers the amount of GUNK that gets in your mattress from natural cell shedding. I read somewhere that a mattress over 10 years gains more then 10 pounds? Maybe you could just tell your hubby that's disgusting and you want to lower the allergens and sluffed off skin that gets in your mattress. Never mind being protected from random pee, body fluids and spilled drinks. :)
With Karen's great idea of the plastic mattress cover you could tell him you are trying to keep the dust mites and allergens at bay - with all those recent outbreaks of bed bugs one can't be to careful! You know you are doing for HIS benefit ;-) LOL
It is almost 5 on the east coast - go for it!!!!!
Have a glass of wine and just chill.....
If I were you the bottle'd be gone by the end of the night....I like wine and I am not afraid to admit it.
Suzann, if you can't get it dried in time is it possible to flip the mattress and work on it another day when DH is not around? If you do flip it, sprinkle a bath towel with baking soda to place under the offending area. Good Luck. If you weren't so far away I'd buy you a bottle myself.
Nope, it's a pillow top. I think I got it dry... enough;)
Okay, I am making steak and potatoes for dinner, I think I deserve it. The bed is dry and made. Ruby is at home, I ended up taking her home cuz her DP's were working late. Bandit is all drugged up and sleepin behind the couch. Rosey is playing Sofa Soccer. And DH isn't even home yet. Life is back to normal...as can be:)THANK YOU ALL for helping me thru THIS DAY & THIS WEEK! God help me if anything goes awry tomorrow. I definately plan on sleepin in:)
You're due for a nice, quiet, relaxing weekend. What will you do if your DH goes to bed tonight and says...."what's that smell?". Just kidding.....
I have no idea! At that point I might have to give up and confess. Then maybe he would agree to go get that KING sized bed I have been wanting!
I'll tell you "WE" are better than any other entertainment a woman can have! And, by the way... have you ever noticed that we are MOSTLY woman (well except for the occasion peek from Clark, or one of the 'other' men) Who else would be able to totally understand why we worry so much, spend so much time on the computer, and now... possibly drink a bit more often than we used to! UGH!
I have one of those mattress covers on my son's bed.. It does crinkle a bit...it used to be that I worried about 'nighttime accidents', but now we have one b/c of his allergies to dust mites.... he couldn't be allergic to pollen/grass like my older son... it had to be DUST mites... but that, my friends is another discussion!
Suzann - I wish you a very calm evening and a wonderful weekend!!!!! No one deserves it more than YOU!
