Thundershirt
This " Thundershirt" was introduced to me from Charlie's trainer. It is to reduce dog's fear and anxiety and looks similar to the concept of Temple Grandin's "Squeeze Machine". I am going to take a look at one, and may try it for Charlie. Does anyone have try it? If so, how do you like the result? How about the model of the shirt is a doodle!!!

That is a great idea Kyoko... Tori too is long and only weighs 38 pounds.. wonder if I should order a large too... they only go by weight?

It has a chart for the weight and chest size. ( Circle around the chest ) M was for the dog 20 ~ 50 lb, with the chest size of 18"~26", that's why I got that one.... It does not have a chart for the length. L is for the dogs 40~70lb with chest size of 24" ~ 32". Now I think about it, when I buy her a sweater, I have to buy XL, because of her length, but it gets sort of baggy, because she is so skinny. That's why I made a coat for her myself last winter... with her long neck, skinny and long body, none of the store bought would fit her right.... ( How spoiled...)

You're going to try it on YOU? LOL That would be me.... I too get so nervous on Meet the Teacher NIght when I have to speak to all the parents - 26 years and I still get a massive red, blotchy rash all over my neck... Maybe I'll try it this year. Who know I could start a new 'fashion statement' for teachers! I can't wait to hear all about how it worked!

Well, so far so good! The directions say to set a treat on the vest to get the dog used to it. A regular treat did not work, but grated cheese did. She sniffed it for several seconds. The vest went on easily. It said to keep it on for 5-10 minutes at first, and she did well with even longer. I have it on her again now, even though there is no stressful stimuli to wig her out at this moment. I am hopeful!!!! I want her to get used to the feel of it so she doesn't resist it. We will see!

Curious as to how the Thundershirt is working. I am thinking of getting one for my Charlie. He is usually ok but is terrified of thunderstorms. We had one last night (and not even that bad of one considering we are in Texas) and he just layed down and shook uncontrollably. I tried holding him and petting him, turning on the tv loud so he couldn't hear the rain and thunder as much and nothing helped. He seems to get worse with every rain and storm that we get. A store near our house usually carries these so I am thinking about going there today to get one since we will be heading into storm season again here very soon. Thanks for any input!

For a long time we just tightened the harness on Starlit. If you are reluctant to purchase one and you have a harness
( we used the gentle walker), try tightening the harness to see if he gets a small amount of comfort. If so, you can move on the the thundershirt.

OOO! JUST got the Thundershirt in the mail! Can't wait to try it, but my little devil ate a bit too much bread when she decided to surf today, so I don't want to put undo pressure on her right now... figures!!!

Hi there,
Shelly, have you tried the Thundershirt yet? I hope it is working for you, and am curious for an update.
Yesterday we took Melody to the Rose Gardens, a popular park in Portland. It was pretty crowded, and she did really well. She was still a little shy, but not shaking at all, or trying to "back away", as she normally would.

Oh my gosh....she is ADORABLE!!! Not only functional but fashionable too! I am excited to get Charlie one and try it out.
