I would like to come up with some more permanent pages on DK.  Pages that we can easily direct members to when they ask very commonly asked questions.  It can be specific to groups (like the Food Group, Puppy Madness, Grooming, etc) or general types of questions. 

So think about "What did you first wish you knew when you joined the site?" and "To what info do you think members need quick and easy access?"

If, for example, some of these pages work well in certain groups each group can link to those pages and the pages can in turn link back to the groups if members have further questions. 

Right now every new member gets a link to this welcome page with BASIC info on using the site: http://www.doodlekisses.com/notes/Welcome_to_Doodle_Kisses!! -- But I'd like to create more than this and have specifics about the doodle experience AND using the site...for those who want more info.

So...shout out your brilliant ideas!

Sorry, one more thing regarding getting people to "read"/find info. available to them (this stuff fascinates me):
In studies of information seeking behavior, it is generally true that people first ask some they know (ie, in their "social network") for the answer, before the put the effort into looking for sources that answer their question. So, no matter how well designed any site or FAQ may be, it is in our nature to want to ask first. So, I suspect we will always see the same questions, and I hope we are always graceful in providing answers. :)
Guh, sorry for all the typos above - I am now typing from my phone. So, while I am in the making suggestions move, I would personally LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a mobile version of the site or a doodlekisses app. :)

There is one. I think you just add /M to the regular DK address. There is a discussion...... Not sure though about the address.

Yay! See, I never searched or looked for it, I just assumed b/c I didn't see it on the first page that there wasn't one. Glad I asked :o)
It is limited in what you can access..but I usually start there and if something piques my interest I will switch to the regular site on my phone's browser.
I agree. I'm that way for some things. I want examples from my peers rather than Google. Other things I would rather ask a professional or just Google it myself. Because of that and because I want people to be able to ask their peers here...I have only made an effort to create FAQ's for site use questions. I really want people who are not internet savvy, but WANT to use this site to be able to figure out how. And you'd be surprised how often people use the Blog section to ask "What's a good food?" in about 3 sentences. So what may seem overdone (the whole explanation between Blogs and Forum) has been a frequent issue.
The temp banner is gone and the new member Welcome banner (remember that HUGE dark blue banner that floats there until you click to close it forever?). So only new members can see it and it will soon have a link to the welcome message (now it only tells people to go the Help tab until I iron out some tech issues). Also the HELP tab has a few new subtabs.

Whaddya think? I still have to compile that list of FAQ's about doodle ownership....
