This morning I was rubbing Callie's belly and found a flea, marching bold as brass across her stomach (this is the thing that always enrages me about bugs - they always walk around like they belong). We hadn't been outside yet, so it had to have either been on her all night (the cleaning lady was at my house yesterday so I don't think it would have come from the carpet or the bed (ick)). I didn't find any more fleas on Callie and I went ahead and gave her her frontline, even though she wasn't due to get it until Saturday. She hasn't been particularly itchy, and I don't see any red bite areas.

Could my dog and house be completely infested???

You still have to throw them out if there is an infestation.
I had central vac when I had my infestation, and those bags normally only get replaced once or twice a year. I actually bought a vacuum cleaner instead, just for fleas.
The pest control people told my sister that this has been the worst summer for fleas that they have ever seen, and that they think they're developing an immunity to the preventives.
The year I had the infestation, it was a record year for them in my area, too. They were sold out of the flea eradication products -bombs, sprays, etc- everywhere. Zodiac's stock must have had a banner year.
good luck, this sounds like more work than cleaning up pee off of a mattress:)
The gross-out factor is totally different :). Bixby Foster Doodle peed in my bed his first night, but since I used to have an incontinent dog, I have a waterproof mattress pad so I didn't have to go through what you did!!
Ya I still need to get one of those and sneek it on the bed when DH isn't lookin' I had no idea dogs wet the bed... live and learn...
Oh yes, this happened when Calla had a UTI. She only did that when she was sick thankfully and then she was asleep. Needless to say the waterproof mattress cover was purchased immediately thereafter. Luckily I jumped so fast to get the covers off the mattress never got wet.
Bixby peed after he was neutered. Poor boy had such a rough day and was too scared to walk down the stairs. One thing with the water proof mattress pad...since it doesn't soak down you can expect a wide area of sheet soaking!
yeah but I would rather that pee had gone wide instead of deep:)
I totally understand that! Did DH ever find out?
NO. TG:) This weekend I will have to get one of those pads cuz Ruby will be coming back to stay a couple days when her little brother decides to come along!!
My vet told us that if we saw one flea, not to worry (as long as Peri was on Frontline before within 3-4 weeks). We washed sheets and vacuumed but never had any problems. A few times a year we see a flea on her belly - never gets worse.
