Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Last Thursday DRC was contacted by the rescue coordinator of a large city animal control facility in North Carolina. They had three young male doodles who were relinquished by a puppy mill and they needed rehabilitation to help them recover from the trauma of  puppy mill life.

These beautiful young boys need socialization and rehabilitation. They need to learn to live in a house and with a family. They need to learn how to just be normal, happy doodles. They also need veterinary care, something they never received while at the puppy mill.

DRC quickly put out a call to our volunteers and  3 wonderful foster homes were immediately located. Several volunteers stepped up to plate to drive the boys to their respective foster homes where they will undergo their rehab care. As I type, 7 DRC volunteers are en  route as they "Doodle Train" these boys to fosters in North Carolina and Georgia.

Our amazing  DRC volunteers will be driving 1200 miles total by the end of the day, all to give these sweet doodle boys their first taste of freedom and ensure that they will have a happy life.

We want to personally thank EVERYONE who is participating in this heroic effort and thank all of you who so graciously support our rescue and our work on behalf of doodles in need.

Thank you all so much from the bottom of our hearts....

We could not do what we do without all of you!

I am in total awe of DRC right now. I know what it took to coordinate this...you guys just blow me away with what you can accomplish. The "Three Amigos"...a perfect name for these Doodle boys who have now been given hope for the future. To the DRC leaders who put this all together, and the Doodle Train volunteers, and the incredible loving Fosters....thank you so very much.
Blessings to everyone involved in this rescue!!!!!
They are beautiful!!!! Oh, if these doodles only knew that their journey will be taking them to a much better life. Thanks to all that assisted in the rescue and the Doodle Train. You are all such wonderful people!
this is such a wonderful deed that these doodle rescuers are doing...I just wish they would take these puppymill owners and do to them what they do to these sweet babies,,,Grrrrr, it makes me so mad!!!...But then come the angels that do everything to help these guys, and they are so cute....I hope that they find the best homes ever so that they can enjoy the wonderful doodle life they are entitled to...Thank you all the angels that are able to rescue, drive, train, or just give love when it is needed...Bless you all...
Yay! What cute little doodle-bugs. It puts a big smile on my face to know their lives will only get better from here :D
How great!! I am so happy to hear that these guys already have a wonderful foster home!!!
I have no words to say how wonderful all of you are. You surely are earning your wings.
The Doodle Train makes me proud!!! Good luck to the volunteers and these sad looking pups. I can't wait to see the "after" photos.
It was my pleasure to coordinate this doodle train rescue, the first I've ever done of this size. We had to actually turn away offers of help from our wonderful volunteers. The volunteer who pulled the first two doodles from the shelter had never done this before and she called me a couple times while at the shelter. She asked me which two of the three brothers should she take.... after a moment of hesitation I told her "just pick any two, it's like picking out tomatoes at the produce department".... that lightened her concern. At the end of her leg of the transport she called me and thanked me for "the opportunity to help save these dogs". She explained that this was a way for her to "pay back" for DRC saving her beloved doodle and seeing him through his heartworm treatment before her family adopted him. Now I'm crying, but tears of happiness. It's days like this that make the long hard days of rescue rewarding....
Liz, I'm crying too! Thank you...sending a MILLION Doodle hugs!
I am crying too! They all have those scared eyes that Mickey had the day my daughter, Suzanne and I picked him up. But I can tell you that in a few weeks you will see such a difference and in a few months you won't recognize them (except for their exquisite coloring) - their eyes will shine with love, good food and a good grooming.
For everyone involved and those that volunteered - G-d Bless you all!!!
Another doodletrain story that brought tears to my eyes. On to a happier, brighter future doods.
