Poor Hondo. He wasn't eating this morning (not at all like him) although he would eat some French toast and bacon that we were having for breakfast. When I checked his poop, it was striated with yellow. Eyes and ears also beginning to jaundice so I rushed him in to the vet. I didn't want to leave him at the hospital for the weekend, so we took blood, started him on liver meds and antibiotics, and he got two liters of i.v. fluids subcutaneously. He seems fine, but is on a very strict bland diet and we will get the blood results tomorrow morning. Poor guy, this is the third time he has had liver failure. Wish him the best.
Hondo didn't make it this time. He passed last night at the hospital. We went in to see him yesterday and he was despondent and didn't even raise his head. With the vet's report that his liver was shriveled and didn't look good, I was kind of expecting this, but thought he might have a few weeks at home. It's probably better this way to just get it over with. He is being cremated this morning. Thanks for all your well wishes and prayers.
My heart goes out to you and your family. We will all miss Hondo. Please find comfort in knowing he had the happiest possible life with you and that you did everything you could for him right up to the end. Huge hugs, Lynda.
We are so sorry to hear about your dear Hondo. Our hearts go out to you and your family. We know about the loss of a beloved puppy and how broken hearted it can be. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you.
Oh Lynda, I'm SO sorry. I hadn't kept up to date with this discussion and when I noticed people responding I checked to catch up...I'm so sad for you. Dogs lives are already too short, not fair when they get taken away from us even before 'old age' -- my heart goes out to you.
