I've read a few of Nevada Barr's books but the only one I can say I enjoyed was Blind Decent. It was one of her first novels I think. The others that I read were kind of blah!
I'm currently reading The Art of Racing in the Rain. This may be the first book I actually finish in a long time. The last book I finished was Marley and Me, I've started several others since then but none of them held my attention. It could be that I'm spending my time on DK instead of reading. :>)
I just finished The Art of Racing in the Rain. I loved it. There were parts that I bookmarked, and I want to go back and read them again. Let me know what you think when you're finished.
Finished Jonathan Franzen's Freedom last week. It was excellent and quite thought provoking. Just found out that it is Oprah's Book Club. Will be fun to see what the discussion offers!

I just finished reading (well actually, listening to) "Flawed Dogs" by Berkley Breathed -- he's the creator of Bloom County and Opus comics. "Flawed Dogs" is the story of Sam the three legged dog, who sports a soup ladle for a leg. Sam befriends other abandoned dogs and journeys all the way to the Westminster Dog Show.
I would have to classify this as a fantasy comedy that takes issue with the "perfect dog" -- for example one dog is considered not adoptable because his color doesn't go with any one's couch. Another, because he like to lick noses, but only the insides! This one will keep you laughing!!!
